Challenge: Building a Lap Desktop extender.
A keyboard, monitor, and powered usb hub. Built into a Laptop case, plugs into my gaming desktop.
I want to use the power of my gaming desktop on a laptop 10 meters away

I know it is not possible to get VGA input to a laptop lcd... until now.

I have ordered one for a 1680x1050 WSXGA+ screen and just finished gutting the old nc8430 laptop.
The plan is to add the new lcd controller, a usb mini keyboard and a powered usb hub in the base of the old laptop.
Then just hook a 10 m VGA cable and usb extender to the LapDesktop, attach mouse and headset to usb hub and game away with everything on ultra without heat issues.
I will post some pictures when i get the LCD controller from HongKong.

I have not been able to find anyone who had done similar... could this be the first of its kind?
Is there a reason why this should not work?

Have you sketched out any mockups yet? I have a working LCD panel, board, and power supply that all works, it just needs a housing to support it all. I've yet to decide what kind of project I'm going to use it for. I can't wait to see what you do.
