This is an option if my new HP nc6220, but I can't find any documentation on this feature. Does it mean I can be connected to a network, such as my corporate network through the wired connection, and then somehow switch to using only the wireless connection without dropping my overall link to the network, as in switching on the fly?

Sounds like what that means to me... I know with my laptop.... if I unplug the ethernet, let's say in the middle of a download, EVEN if I turn my wifi on BEFORE I disconnect, it will cancel the download. Maybe this one automatically switches....

Just try and see if it works... disable your wifi... start a download on ethernet, THEN turn the wifi back on, and wait until it's grabbed itself an IP, then UNPLUG the ethernet and see if it stops the download or if it continues.
