LAN Messaging Program

I'm looking for a dependable program that I can use to message users around my LAN. I would prefer a Server / Client based program. I don't know if anyone is familar with winpopup that came with 98, but that is what we use to use. So far I haven't found a good Server / Client equivilant. Thanks - Ian.

What OS are you using? In Win 2000 and XP if you have the Messenger service enabled, the command is Net Send instead of winpopup.

Net Send {name | * | /Domain[:name] | /USERS} message

Setup a jabber server and run psi on the clients ( cross platform jabber client ).

do you need a real-time chat or more of a localized e-mail? i wrote a little app a few years ago for sending messages around the office that has worked pretty good. it works by copying text messages to a server and then notifying the recipient computer. send me a message at mander@foresters-inc.com if you want to try it. put 'twodog' somewhere in the subject so my filters get it.

Most clients are running Windows XP. The server is Small Business Server 2003. It needs to be realtime chat enabled.

Borgchat is the best Imo. Lots of options and its userfriendly, it includes a Message board, file transfer etc, private chat as well as public chat. On top of that it has network search of computers and it can see other domains and subnets It has tons of Smilies to annoy people. Its free to boot. http://borgchat.softnews.ro/

It also includes translators and other languages.. I love it.
