Lan gaming Freeze!! help

Dont know if it belong here or networking but will give this a shot here. I have two Computer both a fairly New (quad core and a SIX core) Have a Linksys wireless router with DWT firmware, One is hard wire and the Other is on a netgear Wireless Network card. Gaming by them self is no problem but when we play Lan game togetter they will freeze and lock up when there is a lot of Fighting going on in the Game. When one of us drop out of the game everything return normal for the other computer so its have to be a Network problem not the game itself. Its seem the router or the Wireless card cant handle it with all the traffic going on. anyone run into this problem?

When you say "freeze" do you mean a hard lock or hang where the computer is waiting for data?

Try moving some large files across machines and check the speed and see if it locks up. Also try updating the wired and wireless card drivers.

If it is a blizzard game then all I can say is that they do not like wireless connections.

The freezing is likely just the game not dealing with the network disconnecting so ignore that and troubleshoot the source of the network problems.

The type of hardware in the network should be transparent to the applications sending data so apps can't like or dislike certain network types like wireless, unless your wireless constantly drops out.

As fdiaz78 said, you need to try other data transfers from PC to PC, a games netcode is typically sending pretty minimal amounts of data, where as a straight file transfer will use much more bandwidth and is a better stress test for instability.

Chances are it's the wireless somewhere along the line but you should be able to check which PC is disconnecting, just repeatedly ping the router while you play games and see which of you stops being able to ping it when the game dies.

Open a cmd.exe window and just type

ping 192.169.1.1 -t

replace the address if your router's differs, the -t switch will endlessly ping, you can stop it with ctrl+c

Fast fix is to wire in both connections and abandon wireless, it's almost certainly the wireless dropping out for some lame reason.
