I an trying out a LaCie 526 display on a desktop computer running Win7 (64-bit). A CD containing the LaCie Blue Eye Pro software came with it. The CD says it is for several versions of Windows including Win7.
The Blue Eye Pro version on the CD is version 4.5.5. I have downloaded 4.5.6 from the LaCie site. When I try to install it, it aborts with a message: "This update installer requires an existing installation. Please perform a full installation before running this update."
Version 4.5.5 calibrates the display. After you calibrate it, the software provides the ability to test the calibration and produce a calibration report in PDF format. It does all that OK. The only thing that seems a little odd is that report states that "DDC/CI was not used for calibration." After an initial step wherein the software asks you to manually adjust brightness to match a target, the calibration proceeds automatically. I have calibrated an NEC LCD2490WUXi using Spectraview on the same computer and using the same DVI cable. (Spectraview is still installed but disabled.)
In Blue Eye Pro, there is another information box that is supposed to be available under the "About" tab. From the manual I can see that this information includes the hours the display has been used. That's what I'd like to know. But for me, the information box contains nothing. I am hoping that the upgrade to version 4.5.6 would fix this.
Does anyone have experience with this software?
