I have a Zip 750 drive and I also use flash drives. I can attach a label to them like Zip 750 or Flash Mem. And those labels seem to stay as long as I leave the disk in the zip and the flash in the USB port. I can reboot and the system comes up with the labels intact.

But if I access either one by writing to them the label reverts back to a PKBAK # with a number following it that XP generates. It will always revert back to labeling them to that PKBAK name.

Is there any way to assign a label to these drives that will stick and stay there in my computer? PKBAK # is just not doing it for me.

Good question. I too would like to know the answer as i've encountered something similar.

Anyone have any ideas? Anything! I would even edit the registry if there is a fix. Must be an easy one.
