What kind of numbers are people getting with this setup:

HD4870X2
Core i7 920@ 3.6 ghz
6 GB OCZ DDR3
MSI X58 Eclipse
1920x1200
Corsair HX1000

In L4D2 I have everything completely maxed out at my native res and get between 30-60 FPS.

Is this too low? Some stuttering when there's oodles of zombies, but I don't remember it being this slow.

maybe i'm wrong?

I just tested with my rig. Looks like there's a cap on FPS for L4D2, which is 60. It's where I stayed at the entire time, even during big hordes.

edit: Do you have film grain on? Not that it has much to do with FPS, but just wondering. I have mine all the way off, looks horrendous with it on imo.

yeah i tried moving it. i just don't see why it's dipping down so badly. temps are normal.

Yea I turned V-Sync off, and using Fraps during single play on the Mall map...

Min-68
Max-227
Avg-121.85

I'll try a harder more zombie full map. I think V-Sync off will solve your prob Radeon.

L4D2 Runs flawlessly for me (C2D 4.3GHZ, 4870x2 @ 778/950) make sure V-Sync is off and #2 make sure Edge Detect AA is off too, I just use the standard AA with 8x in L4D2 and it's smooth as butter.

Are you sure you're using the latest drivers? To test it when you get bad fps alt tab out and then back in. If this fixes your fps than it's a bug that was fixed and you just need to update.

L4D2 has a weird stutter problem with crossfired ATI cards (x2 included). There is a workaround though, just alt-tab out of the game at the beginning of each map, and then back in. That would fix the micro-stutter issue. After doing that, everything should smooth out.

Hopefully that helps.

Yea thats the bug im talking about as well, fixed in latest drivers.

My refresh is 60 so that's why I said 60.
