L4D vs L4D2

I love the fact not all endings are hide in a corner/ontop of a roof and camp for wave after wave. i really enjoyed the scavenger and rush accross the bridge endings.

Oh and the music in dark carnival is awsome to kill zombies with to lol.

L4D2 im sure its better than L4D1. However, you also have to realize the crap added in L4D2 could have been an update of content if they chose. Remember they promised new content in L4D1? Duh, they didnt do it because they figured "Hey, lets just release a new game to make more money and we will add the features there."... Thats the only thing I see wrong with L4D2.

But they did release extra content for L4D. Perhaps you didn't like what they added, but that doesn't mean they didn't do it.

L4D2 is not DLC, is not an expansion, it is a separate game and is worth the money spent (Which was $33 for me)... and I have only been playing single player, can't wait to play with some friends at a LAN / Versus... L4D was the best at LAN's.

Meh, whine all you want... it's not going to change anything.. L4D will still get more content / updates as will L4D2 and I'm sure there will be more games out from them.

Would people be pissed if they released a TF3? "BAhh you could have just made that DLC for free zomg I already paid for TF2!" Yea... most people paid $2.50 - $20 for TF2 and I'm amazed they continue to support it the way they do (maybe consistent sales reflect this strategy). If it was a new game... new classes, modes, more players / vehicles something a lot different... I'd have no problem paying $50 for a new one

meh... Valve and maybe Blizzard are the only dev's I trust to produce quality games that I'll pre-order without hesitation

I don't think anyone questioned what it is/isn't, but what it could have been. Whether it's worth the money or not is purely subjective to any one person.

Please - you're in total denial if you think L4D will get any more love beyond minor fixes at this point. The game has been rendered obsolete with L4D2's release.

Would people be pissed if they released a TF3?

If people had paid $50 for it upon release and it only had half-assed support for just 1 year, then yes. However, it was dirt cheap (if you didn't pick it up with the Orange Box), received a metric shit-ton of free content updates, and is still rolling after more than 2 years. Apples vs Oranges.

Not really, people are expecting more free TF2 updates, if Valve decides to stop adding content to TF2 and release TF3 for $50, are people going to be upset?

Most people did not pay $50 for L4D.. unless it was right after release and you didn't pre-order it... even then it was still worth it... I played 30-40 hours of L4D, that's worth $50 to me... I paid $50 for Farcry 2 and played it for 1 hour before deciding it was a piece of shit. That was definitely not worth $50. TF2 was worth $50, Orange-box was a good deal.

And no I'm not in denial, they'll probably adopt pieces from L4D2 into L4D... it's not that hard to see, they could easily add some new weapons or even unique special infected that aren't in L4D2... Dunno what they'll do, but you can't make assumptions that they won't... Even then I don't really give a shit if they update or not, I'll be playing L4D2...

No - because no one paid $50 for TF2, and it's been receiving constant updates for 2 years running.

Unfortunately, I was in that boat. Had I waited for a $30 sale or so, I probably wouldn't have been so pissed. As it was, I got significantly less play time and lost interest while there were only 2 Vs campaigns. It was not worth the cash I spent. However, I will agree with you regarding the value in the Orange Box.

That's my point exactly. No one gives a shit if they update it or not, rendering L4D a dead game. I expect any updates to be the reverse of what you just posted, with some L4D content added into L4D2. In the end, even if they add more characters/weapons into L4D, it's still a dead game with everyone playing L4D2.

People will stay play it... just like CS 1.6 and CS:Source... Although there was more competitive influence there...

Meh, not worth arguing about it... play whatever games you enjoy.

Try using the frying pan some time. It makes a nice "boing."

Yes! I was playing the L4D2 demo today and I have to say, I had lots of fun with the frying pan. I found it a little hard to tell exactly what I was supposed to be doing(other than not dying and killing zombies), but to be fair I never played L4D so perhaps it's expected most players would just "know" what to look for. I also had no idea we were at the end of the level when I closed the saferoom door and ended the game instead of waiting for more spawns like my teammate had been doing.

Overall, it seems like fun. Can't say I'll be paying full-price, but I guess that'll depend on whether or not I play the demo much more. Here's hoping they run a sale soon :D

I will nab it when it is 19.99 or lower. Otherwise it is too much $$ for an update.

You're missing out, trust me. I was pretty skeptical too but this game is fantastic, absolutely worth every penny for the amount of content. One can take all sorts of funny angles with the "update" argument you're making, but bottom line this game is a great time that even single player is worth the money.

It's better than the first, definitely not a $20 game.

I bought the first game, developed a strong group of friends to play with, and played 300+ hours. I felt the game was worth way more than the $24 I paid for it.

On this second game, everything is an improvement over the first game. It is more balanced and significantly harder as the survivors. Unfortunately, the concept is no longer fresh. The first game was fun because the co-op gameplay was new, to me at least. For me, this game is only going to get a few hours per week it seems. While it is refined, it is still the same core gameplay.

Um, L4D2 has much more content than the entirety of the first game.

so keep up the wishful thinking about an 8gb patch for L4D1 that adds all the new engine changes and content and probably requires all the old maps to be recompiled and downloaded anyway on top of that...
