Which one?
Does the COD coop zombie mode compare?
I loved COD4, didnt care for the COD:WoW demo.

Thoughts and recommendations?

Haven't played WaW, but have L4D and it is awsome. Has coop and versus mode that are great.

COD:WOW is utter shit, just like typical Treyarch stuff.

It's not made by the same devs as COD1, 2, and 4.

L4d is awesome on the other hand.

i've played both and imo you should pick them both up. they are different games entirely but both are great. i picked up COD:WaW first and enjoyed the crap out of it (still am). the first night i tried the zombie co-op mode i stayed up until 4am playing it. it is a shit ton of fun. unfortunately there are not very many public servers to join and i found it VERY difficult to play the zombie co-op mode. that first night i got lucky and found an open server and just played with the same people all night long. essentially you have to have it pre-arranged with people you already know. after not being able to find any joinable public games i decided to check out L4D. amazing game. i haven't played anything else since picking it up on thursday. there are a ton of servers and a huge community supporting this game. this is probably the best game i've played this year. if you have to choose just one game then i suggest L4D. but go ahead and get both. you won't regret it.

Call of Duty 5 World at War is just another WWII game. Left 4 Dead on the other hand seems like the way to go.

Haven't played CoD WaW and I don't plan to. L4D however is simply amazing, but the fun of it may wear off rather quick if you don't have friends to play it with. I've put over 20 hours into it in the past 4 days

From the way you worded your post it sounds like your leaning towards L4D.

Yes, L4D gets old after about a week, CoD waw has a pretty fun single player and GREAT multi.

It hasn't even been out a full week yet....about 1.5 hrs short. ;)

I love L4D. I haven't played CoD:WaW, but I am not a fan of the Call of Duty series, so I don't expect I will enjoy it too much.

Call of Duty 4 is the only one I enjoyed enough to finish and its the only one I enjoyed enough to play through multiple times and it has the only online multiplayer game that held my attention over the long haul. Short of that, I agree with you. I didn't care for the rest of the series. Though the original Call of Duty would be my second favorite of the series. In my mind, going back to WWII and passing this off to Treyarch are two bad moves.

Long ago, it was announced that Treyarch would develop odd-numbered sequels on a 2-year cycle, while Infinity Ward would develop even-numbered sequels on a 2-year cycle. Thus, each game would have a 2-year development cycle and gamers would still get a new Call of Duty game every year.

It does seem as though Treyarch was a poor choice though.

Well all the Treyarch titles are far worse than the Infinity Ward titles it seems.

I'll take your word for it, as I have not played any of the Treyarch-developed iterations.

Well many people never forgave Treyarch for Call of Duty 3. Once you play it you'll know why. I think Call of Duty 5 is a better effort than Call of Duty 3 was, but still Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 2 are vastly superior.

i agree... the COD games might as well just be light gun games.... they are so linear and *boring* because they are sooo scripted.....

no thanks...

L4D ftw....

WaW is COMPLETE SHIT just like COD4 was.

L4D is AMAZING. No, not amazing....AMAZING.

I enjoyed Call of Duty 4. Not just the single player but the multi-player as well. I can't see anyone calling it "shit." To each their own I guess. I still haven't tried Left 4 Dead, but it is the better choice given how much I dislike CoD5.

My brother and best friend both have CoD:WaW and say that it is disappointing compared to CoD4. I would say wait to pick one and instead get L4D in a few months when the price comes down to a more reasonable one for such a small content game.

i like waw because its the closest i can get to playing saving private ryan. i love that movie, lol.

Played / own both and I can't stand COD:WAW. Maybe the COD formula has grown stale for me, but I was completely bored with most of the game. The missions were incredibly short/easy with less variety than those in COD2 or COD1. On top of that, it only took about 2.5 hours to complete the co-op campaign on hardened mode. So unless you're really into the competitive multiplay aspect, I don't think it's worth $50 :-/

Now, onto L4D... I'm having a great time w/ this game, playing with 3 RL friends. I just wish I had bought this instead of COD and saved myself some money... oh well. Seems to be a much longer game and has more replay value as well with the dynamic AI thing.

W@W fails in so many ways........L4D now thats a game versus mode is well :D

hah that's the first thing I thought of when playing also.. from the sound of the empty clips flying out to the blood spattering head shots.. I love this game.

This is akin to asking which is better for wiping one's ass: toilet paper or sandpaper :)

L4D is the only way to go here. WAW multi... are you kidding? I played for 10 minutes and wanted to shoot myself in the foot so I could be dismissed from duty.

If you have friends that can play L4D it's a better experience of course. But more often than not you'll find an okay or pretty good group to go through the game with. And the Director definitely works and he is a total asshole. Really makes the game fun and interesting. Always have to watch your back because you don't know where that Smoker will spawn next. I guess there's only a finite amount of variations but that hasn't seemed to dull the experience any.

Word of advice though. If you get L4D and for the most part suck at FPS or are just average. Do not do a pug Campaign on Expert. You're just hurting yourself and the team.

Expert is really the way to play, but if you're not skilled enough (sorry) then don't bother. You can have just as much fun at the other difficulties.

Anyway, it's a really kickass game, and dispite the obvious pug problems it's a lot of fun.

From my understanding, L4D has what 4 levels? Yes I understand it is different everytime you play thanks to the director addition but still 4 levels? That seems weak in my eyes.

4 movies, broken up into 5 chapters each

On normal you can get through each chapter in about 30-45 minutes.
On Expert, depends on how good your group is.

There was a demo out, but I think it's been deactivated. I'm sure they'll do another one. then you can judge for yourself.

4 Campaigns. Each campaign has 5 levels. Multiplayer has 2 campaigns so far, they are going to add the other 2 soon. They're also going to be adding more campaigns. only reason it shipped with only 2 multiplayer campaigns is because the maps are tweaked for multi.

What other 2 modes?

Because they weren't stated the 2 current online co-op modes are the straight up 4 player survivor and then versus where up to 4 can be survivors and up to 4 can be special zombies.

I'm going to say L4d, just because I haven't enjoyed a CoD game since CoD 2.

No, I said "Multiplayer has 2 campaigns so far, they are going to add the other 2 soon", meaning campaigns. not game modes.

I'm sorry I was under the understanding that you could do each movie in 30-45 mins. My bad.
