I've been looking around for a display that would satisfy all my needs: work, games, films, etc. for a little while now. Like most of you, I have been reading reviews on the net and in forums like this one. I finally purchased a Dell 2005 and wasn't really satisfied with it. It was a bit small for my liking, and the pivot mechanism was kinda off axis. I returned it and got a Gateway 21''. That was REALLY not to my liking as I found it wasn't the best built display...although the size was nicer to me...but the colors where quite washed out compared to the Dell.
So a bit discouraged by this I was thinking of going back to CRT displays but there was nothing that I liked either since everything that I could find on the market used shadowmask technology. At this point I was ready to go for the 23'' cinema display for Apple but I found that there were certain features that I wanted that the Apple didn't have. I knew that HP made their 23'' with the same display as Apple used and I finally was able to find a reseller in Montreal that had an L2335 in stock. Since I have bought several computers from that store, they accepted to have me try out the display at the store before buying it. I tried games, checked for dead pixels, checked the included software and fell in love with this display. Colors are quite true looking, it's not overly bright...yet bright enough (just right), it has all the plug-ins that I could want and it plays games quite well for an LCD.
I very highly recommend it to anyone who is a bit picky about quality and doesn't mind paying a couple hundred more than the Dell 24''. There is just sooooo much room...it's almost disconcerting the first few hours....almost like the display is too big. Overall, this is a very nice display of which I am very proud to be the new owner.
