In the last few months I have noticed 2 or 3 of the other forums I frequent start using IntelliTXT linkage.
For those of you not in the know (neither was I 5 mins ago) this is the IntelliTXT website.
They are the wonderful company who fills you normal paragraph with hotlinked words and pop-ups (bubble-ups?) that lead to adds. It's not only ugly, it also becomes a pain in the ass when you use a scroll wheel and all the sudden pop ups come up everytime your trying to read something.

I really don't car for this stuff, but I understand you have to pay the bills somehow. I was just wondering if you (Kyle) had any plans for anything like this on this forum.

Yikes. I hope not. I'm sure alot of people will leave if that happens. I'd rather support the board by subscribing.

I can't speak for Kyle, but if you notice we have no avatars, no active graphics anywhere and limited signatures. All of this is by design to keep the forum as clean as possible. I personally don't think you will see those aggravating hotlinks within the text anytime soon.

Agreed... I've always been annoyed with those on other sites I'm read reviews/etc on....

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

Hacks me off when I click on those thinking it might be a link to useful information. I've learned to ignore them.

I like the lack of eye-candy junk. This is a computer forum, not a disco. When ever I go on to other forums, I get a Damn Headache!

I visited the Intellitext offices a couple of years ago when they were just starting up. We will probably be doing a trial run on the main site soon, but honestly, I just don't ever see using that in the forums. I don't really like it myself and am not sure it will work out in our content. The forums I see running it have lost me as a member as it is just too distracting in this environment.

I really hate the intellitext on websites- I'd understand if you need it for the revenue, but then I'd be willing to pay a subscription fee to get rid of it.
QFT. as long as it wasnt too much..i mean honestly..how much can you make from one pageview on those things? (no seriously. how much?)

I understand thease sites gotta pay bills to keep online, but IMO those little linky things that pop up drive me up the wall. I really hate them with a passion. I got to say, its more annoying than my daily 15 junk items in my inbox every morning

I for one would rather pay a fee for this site than to use it with hotlink things all over.... grrrr... In fact I refuse to read any reivew at fireingsquad because they have hotlinks...

I honestly don't know, that is why I want to give it a try. If I can put the kids through college on it, then you will be seeing it. If I can't buy a six pack with it, then we won't be getting buzzed up and somebody will pay! ;)

I don't like IntelliTXT either. Really very annoying that they are literally in the middle of what you are reading.

How about putting a small PayPal button at the bottom of the forums? It will stand out against the black forums and there are a LOT of members here...

Oh no, you just can't do it, Kyle, kids college or not. In this case, screw the kids. ;)

Thanks for the response Kyle, and your honesty.

As for the kids, I hear great things about public schools these days. Plus U. Texas is public and you can go watch the LongHorns lose to the Florida Gators (another public school).
