I'm looking to run my dual 22" DVI Displays (1680x1050) to two separate machines. The StarTech SV221DVIDD meets all my requirements but one: It says it only "officially" supports up to a maximum resolution of 1600x1200. Seeing as it has a rather simple job to accomplish, I'm a skeptic that this device can't handle the extra 80 pixels I'll need to throw at it. That said, I figure it's best to be safe than sorry so can anyone confirm or deny this before I spend $150?

Thanks.

KVM switches degrade the quality on VGA (analog connections) - I'm curious as to why it would hurt DVI.

Interesting question about the resolution, unfortunately I don't know if it can. I bet it does since the limitation really has to do with the maximum amount of information that you can safely pass - 1680x1050 actually has fewer pixels overall than 1600x1200 so I don't see why it wouldnt work unless the device has some sort of active monitoring of the signal to apply overlay info (some computer DVI switches do this).

Thanks for your helpful answer SethK.

In response to the other two, the debate as to whether we're going to be using a KVM or not is not a question that's up for answering. This is an environment where such a device is absolutely necessary, and it has to accomodate two widescreen LCDs going to more than one (in this case two) machines. They must be able to switch from machine to machine on a press of a button.
