A researcher discovered an unusual mineral in a Serbian mine that could not be matched with anything known previously to science. Further investigation revealed that the mineral, though not listed in the science books, was in fact already referenced in literature…comic books. The mineral discovered, sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide, is commonly known as Kryptonite. Blame Ed Cabarles for this one.

Kryptonite is no longer just the stuff of fiction feared by caped superheroes. A new mineral matching its unique chemistry - as described in the film Superman Returns - has been identified in a mine in Serbia.

That's just plain odd. How is that possible? A made up comic book mineral turns real. Is superman real? :confused: :p

so krpyton, is no where close to kyptonite? like you said, there are quite a few items with it..mainly lights...i know its a popular type of aftermarket headlights

I think they're called Krypton headlights, but they're actually Xenon. Could be wrong though.

Xenon headlights. Xenon is also used in IMAX bulbs, the kind you can see in space or whatnot.

Krypton I think is either the next noble gas up or down in terms of energy levels/electron shells (I hated chem). It sounds damn cool though, eh? I think they messed with Krypton during SDI/Star Wars back in the Cold War.

Hell yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

Forget everything else, what killed it for me was the "romance". Superman was acting like a total emo bitch throughout the movie. He was chasing after a taken ex-girlfriend, using his xray eyes to stalk her, flying around to see her. This is unacceptable. Superman should be pimpin ho's from California to Maine. At at the end of the movie he seems to accept the fact that he lost his love and starts a new life as a lonely emo bastard.

I guess its a movie for the current emo generation. After watching the movie I felt like writing a fuckin' poem.
 
The aspect of this article that i find interesting is that the grains of this mineral (which seems to have some metals, sodium & lithium, for example, in it.....) are only 5 microns.. perhaps we might see this in a future "core4octo" processor or something

I'm pretty sure that sodium and lithium are both conductive, maybe not conductive enough for the needs of a processor, but it's interesting food for thought.

personally, i'm surprised our cpus aren't filled with something more exotic like, oh.. palladium by now.

I think the main thing holding us back is scarcity. I've read about exotic materials being more efficient chips, but are usually a lot more expensive due to low supply.

But yea Kryptonite eh? This is about as weird as it gets. :eek:

people actually went to go see that? i saw the preview once and a knew it would be terrible. learn to "preview" questionable movies online before wasting $10 plus food to go see it.

The movie was just terrible, people are fricking tired of Lex Luthor. Gimme a movie where Superman is getting his ass handed to him slammed up against a Skyscraper. Thats what I want to see.

They really need to do a death and return of superman, like the comics did, with Doomsday, and the four fake superman. At least those had some action in them, and superman wasn't just flying around catching falling stuff.
 
I don't know about you guys, but Kevin Spacey was BORN to play that fucken role. He was the best Lex Luther I've ever seen but yes the rest of the movie did suck major ass.

So did I. I remember sometime back going to Junior High when I would ride my bike with a few friends. We all had U locks but one of them had one that said "Kryptonite" on them so I figured it was made out of that :p.
