I just received this headset today and I can hear from it fine but I dont know how to use the mic.

I have it plugged into my logitech z-5500 and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have onboard audio (Yeah, I know) and when I talk it doesn't detect it. I am using audio devices and sound under my control panel in windows xp.

When I plug it straight into my computer (not through the z-5500) I hear this weird noise(when the mic is also plugged in) but I can still hear music and stuff. And it detects the mic now, but I have to tap the mic or blow into it for it to detect. I can't talk because it doesn't even detect. Any help?

um, the mic is pretty much useless. that is why, in my sticky, I said so. just get a separate mic like the zalman clip on for $7 and use it.

the sb40 is really a headphone w/ a mic boom. koss, for whatever reason, COMPLETELY disregarded the part of using a mic that actually works.

However, since the sb40 is a really decent headphone for the $$, I forgive them.

the sb45 has a great mic but sucks donkey balls as a headphone. it was designed for talking.

how hard is it to use the sb45 mic on the sb40 and call it an sb50? too hard for koss lol

I already asked them about it. no reply.

Ok I didnt know that it was that bad. I also ordered a zalman mic too, but it doesnt ship til later from amazon. I thought I would be able to use the sb40 one until the zalman one came in. Ok thank you.

Yeah, it is a wtttttttffffff? For sure. No worries with the Zalman.
