Hey guys! I have the Koolance PC3-720. Seems to work okay.. But I want something that can take down the heat more efficently. I was looking at possibly upgrading the pump, and radiator. Just wondering if anybody has done this. I've checked pages and pages, nothing so far.

The radiator that is in there right now supports 2 120mm fans, So I was thinking of upgrading to this radiator

The pumps that are in there right now support 2L/Min Im kinda looking at

My system is setup for 3/8th tubing. So I'd like to stick around there. If you have any suggestions please do.

Maybe try to get more air through your current rad before parting it out? I hear that one has an issue with ample case air intake... does it cool better with the side off?
 
Well im running about 84F full load. about 29C IT doesnt really matter if the side is off or on. I have 4 80mm fans that are all blowing inside the case. I also have the 120mm fans on the radiator at about 50% power. (I like my system to be quiet) So I was thinking about just giving it alittle more umph.
 
I've actually been looking into doing the same thing. One suggestion I can give is you might want to get the Black Ice Pro II instead of the Extreme. I think you might have issues with the extreme being too thick and contacting the power supply.

Yeah I was kind of Eyeing it aswell.. I think it maybe close but maybe not... I couldnt really find measurement on any of the cores.. so im not sure which one could possible work. you have a link to that radiator?

By far the cheapest i've found so far.

And here is somehting close to what you prolly have now. It says 45mm thick but i think thats including the fittings. So I have serious doubts that the Extreme will fit. I'm planning on getting the Pro because I'm getting a 7800 and prolly the DD water block to go with it and copper and aluminum don't play well together so somethings got to go. Plus the copper one has a better heat dissipation rating. Let me know what other ideas/questions you've got!

The Koolance website says that their rad is 45mm thick which I assume is including those 90* fittings on them.
Well, I'm not anywhere near my chassis so I've been looking at the [H] review of it. Thats when I came across this photo:

So, if those fittings clear the PSU then the BIX II, which is 40mm thick should easily clear.
My question now is, is that going to be enough clearence for good airflow to that back fan? Anybody?

Yeah, Im not exactly sure on the measurement, but I'd really like to upgrade the pump and radiator... I just measured, and I think it is 45mm with those elbows on there. as shown in the picture. I measure 295mm x 130mm x 45mm about...

As for the pump... I dont really think this pump can effectivly cool a system real well. at 2L/Min Thats about 120l/hr which isnt really alot. Alot of pumps i've seen do around 300-1000 L/hour.

This will be very interesting.. I will post alot of pictures of this. I'd like to keep the stock reservior, But i think it uses 6mm inlet and outlets... So I dont think it will really help me.

It looks like the Koolance fans are 120x120x38mm like this.

Arisythila can you measure them too?? They should be 38mm or 25mm if they are a standard size.

IF thats true then I thought about replacing the stock fans with a 25mm 9-blade fan like this.

The Silverstone has better specs with CFM, dBa, and RPM's, but the Ultra has a standard 3-pin connector that could plug straight in to the Koolance control board , so I'm not sure which is better there, but anyway..... :confused:

That would give me a little more clearence from the PSU.

Then I thought, I just bought a NeoPower 480 PSU with a single 120mm fan in the bottom. And I have both the two front and two back 80mm fans pulling air in to the case. So to get even more into this airflow problem I thought what about if I took the top cover of my psu off and recovered it with Modders Mesh!

Hmmm........ Then i could cover the back grill on the PSU with tape or something of that nature to help force the air up and out the top!!
 
I have the OCZ Modstream PSU 520 Watts, I measured the fan and it is 120x25-27mm ... So I think that shouldnt be too bad. I have to measure total clearence we can use on a radiator. Im still trying to think of a good pump solution, because I still want to use the fan controller Koolance supplies its pretty nice, I just dont want to use the pump/res/rad setup they are using.. hehe... More cooling power!

As I progress, I will keep everybody updated. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. about the specs.
 
yeah, the Koolance fans are 120x25 to 27mm probably 25mm Sorry, I read the mistake i made. I should have said the Koolance fans are 25mm instead of mentioning my PSU.. LOL

Im going to order up that Danger Den Black Ice Rad, Im still trying to find a good 3/8" pump that will look neat(clean) in a case.
 
So are you going to get the Pro or Extreme? Are you planning on taking the submerged pumps out of the reservoir??

Hmmm.... Now i wonder if the nipples on the rad are going to get in the way of the nipple fittings on the tank?? Any ideas? :confused:

Im going to grab the Extreme. ITs 40mm, and if this rad thats in my case now is 45mm I think there will be enough air flow. Im thinking about getting rid of the pump/resivoir setup in this case, and just running my own pump/res setup.. I found a nice pump/res setup, that fits into the 5 1/4 bay, for 99 dollars. it does 350l/hour which is 230l/hour faster than what I have now. Well see what the wife says when i tell her what I want...

Okay just picked up the Black Ice Pro II Radiator. I will see how fitment is with the Exos2 system. Hopfully it wont be too complex to get it up and running.

just change the pump. that radiator is quite capable if you can move more water through it. i would suggest a Laing DDC just because it is already 3/8" and kicks much ass. I think you will be surprised at the difference a pump can make. infact i doubt you would see much if any difference with the BI radiator.
 
Im going to upgrade the pump aswell. But I want to upgrade the radiator. aswell.

This upgrading on the koolance-cases makes my mouth water. ;[

It's unfortunate that i'm stuck with this until I can afford a better water cooling set-up.
 
if you want to upgrade the rad for looks thats fine. you arent going to see any significant difference in temps though. trust me....i used to be the thermal engineer at Koolance.
 
My biggest thing is to get a copper radiator to go with my copper video and NB cooler. Plus I'm thinking about going triple 120mm rad. Hmmmm....... oh the possibilities! ;) I think three 120's will fit, dont you? All I would have to do is relocate the res. and get a new pump. Does anyone know which external pump will run as quiet as those submerged pumps? They are completely silent! :D

I got the BI Radiator. After trying to mod it for 3 hours to get it to work with the Koolance stuff, I popped the core.. Eh 45 bucks down the drain. Also reversing fans on the Koolance system is not a good idea.. Time to put them back the way they came. LOL

FYI - my koolance system (pc3-725bk) really kicks ass.. the air flow with the fans on at full blast is VERY good... I was happily surprized... and even with them pulling warm air from the case, this lili v1000 is so well ventilated that the rad gets essentially room temp air.. I doubt I will need to upgrade the fans or rad... maybe the pumps at some point... they use two pumps, BTW, for those of you who didn't realize that... all Exos II based systems do apparently. Anyways... I am very happy I went with this system... regardless of those who thought it would not work well... or just don't think much of koolance (think their over priced and under powered, etc).
 
No the Koolance system works GREAT.. But I on the other hand like to mod things. at stock speeds I pull about 27C temps, at overclocked speeds I pull alittle higher temps about 32C, but Under load temps dont change but maybe 1-2C Koolance system is a nice system. But still a bit over priced. 350-500 dollars for a case/cooling system is pretty steep. But you gotta pay for a good/CLEAN system.
