Koolance question

Im thinking about going watercooling soon and Im very interested in the Koolance products. I want to go all Koolance waterblocks and get the Exos 2 system. The main question here is. Since the Koolance uses 10mm tubing, and a majority of their waterblocks are 6mm, can I just use an adapter from the unit to throw that down to 6mm.

Im fairly new to watercooling and Im assuming that this would work ok? I know some peeps out there would rather not go with Koolance but I like the neatness of their products and thats something I put alot of effort into when I run all my wires etc.

This is basically how I would have it setup. Exos 2 - 10mm - 6mm adapter - 6mm tubing - water blocks (cpu, video card, yada yada) - 6mm tubing - 6mm - 10mm adapter - Exos 2.

From the way Im reading it the Exos 2 is 10mm but a majority of the Koolance waterblocks are 6mm. Thats why Im wondering if a simple adapter would work.
 
the CPU-300-V10 (CPU) is 10mm (3/8) and the CPU-300-V13 (CPU) is 13mm (1/2). so you could try those, ive never done watercooling either, but if you drop down from 10 to 6mm your gonna lose alot of performance i would think.
 
dR.Jester > Most of the people who post here look down on Koolance products because it's possible to build a better system yourself for far less than the retail price of most of their products. I've just recently purchased a lot of Koolance products myself and I didn't pay anywhere close to retail for any of them. I think another reason some of the guys on this forum are down on Koolance is the fact that if you can afford the high entry price you'll end up with a portable kit that looks far better than almost anything else out there. The EXOS 2 is a beautiful, quality piece of kit.

Koolance systems have some other advantages aside from their looks. They're very easy to install without any modfications to your case, they have redundant pumps in case of pump failure and they have temperature alarms which will protect your system in many cases when something goes wrong. They're also designed around low coolant flow, which can be far safer than a high flow system should you spring a bad leak.

If you have the budget for one I'd highly recommend you get the EXOS 2 and a CPU-300-V10 waterblock (the Koolance blocks are designed around low flow rates). I'm not currently sold on the idea of using reducing adaptors, and until Koolance finally decides to release updated versions of their video chipset and northbridge cooler for the larger tube diameter I'm staying clear of them.
 
so currently there are no GPU waterblock that has a 10mm tubing?

Not made by Koolance. However, there are all kinds of waterblocks that will work well with a Koolance system. Aqua Computer and Innovatek both make blocks that were designed to get optimum results at the lower flow rates commonly seen in the Koolance systems.

Well....not really per se. However, I can give you the link to the Aqua Computer distribution page and that page will give you the links to all the authorized Aqua Computer distributors worldwide. Just scroll down a bit past the German stores and you will see flags of various countries. Pick the one that is closest to where you hail from.

As far as Innovatek goes there are three distributors here in the USA: HighSpeed PC, FrozenCPU, and Sharka. I don't know the Innovatek distributors in the UK so you are on your own if that is where you hail from.
 
Exos 2 = Just dandy

Koolance Waterblocks = meh to not so meh

I say get the Exos 2 and pair it with a Swiftech mcw6000, that will give you great performance without taking your wallet out behind a dark alley and beating it to death for all its worth (like the Koolance, Innovatek, and AC blocks will do). For the GPU get a mcw50, it will work just fine at the flow rates you will get with the Exos 2.
 
Im using Koolance right now. There is an adapter that comes with the Exos2 that addapts 10mm to 2 6mm fittings.. So You can run 10mm to your CPU, after your CPU, you can go down to the 6mm GPU, then with the other hose go to your Chipset which is also 6mm. then you take those 2 6mm lines, and they get T'ed into a 10mm line. what splitter is this? Y or F splitter?

And also does the Exos 2 have a seperate power or does it hook up to the systems power supply. I have a 480 watt PSU.

I have a 520 watt powersupply Im doing just fine, 12v is 11.79v, and 5v is 4.97v So it doesnt really harm voltage.. I have the OCZ Modstream 520, 620w peak.





Some images on my setup. I use a F right off of the CPU, and a Y after the F splits it to the graphics card, and chipset.
 
The P4 system in my sig is running a EXOS I, and I ran the whole system off a Antec SL350 350W PSU for a while before I got my True480.

So i see you're running a Koolance integrated case. Nice setup btw. I wish i can buy the integrated case instead but i don't want to get rid of my case. The only thing that worries me is that the top of my case is not flat, so i'm not sure how Exos2 going to settle.

Actually... its not the Koolance Integrated case... I actually got a Chinming case before hand, and a Exos2 unit. then I cut a hole into the top of the case, and dropped the unit in.

It worked the best for me. Im not really happy with the cooling power of the Exos2 unit. I think the Exos1 unit was a better model. I think it has to do with the water pump in this Exos2 unit. I dont think it pumps enough to do good. I upgraded from the A8N-SLI Deluxe, and a Winchester 90nm 3500+ @ 2530 mhz. Im now with a DFI Ultra-D and a Venice 3800+ @ 2940mhz. Temps are quite a bit higher in the Exos2 unit over the Exos1 unit. and I was running water to more stuff on the Exos1 unit, and this one. I top tempatures out on the Exos2 at 32C, Exos1 unit got a max 29C. the fan was also at the lowest setting, on the Exos2 unit i have to run at 50% or temps really jump.

I think the pumps are more efficient at 1/4 inch(6mm) than 3/8(10mm).

The Exos II has twice the flow of the Exos I. They went from 1 liter/min to 2 liter/min. Are you using case air to exhaust through your Exos? Reverse the fans and you will see the temps drop. :)
 
Reversing the air flow. My case temps are at 67 degrees F yet everything is running at 93ish degrees F.

Ya... I think that might be the first thing I do... but then all that warm air is in your case... but I guess if the net affect is cooler over-all (cooler chips) then it's all good. right? I guess the name of that game is also, have ample ventilation!!
