I installed my i7-920 in my old koolance pc2-601 case with the stock intel heat sink because i had no other decent sized cases. tired of seeing 80C @3.2 with the stock cooler I wire tied the cpu-300 water block to it with some 12-2 electrical wire. after a hour @3.8 1.37vcore she's at 75c Not to shabby for a 6 year old water cooling system. though i did change the fan configureation. 3-80's pulling air out over the radiator 4-80's pulling air in plus one of those cheap duel slot pci fans blowing over the chipset. motherboard temp is 30c. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...mage_result&resnum=7&ct=image&ved=0CCEQ9QEwBg

Should be able to do even better when i switch out the 3 loud 80's on top sucking for 2 140's pushing up. and a newer water block and pump. the radiator is 140X280

not bad at all.

This should cool an i-5 or i-7 well enough for general use.

the 75c i clamed was with asus probe. realtemp shows 85c. its ready for a new pump and better water block too. 3:03 time frams running 6012. i7-920 3.8 200X19/ 1600 mem 9-9-9-24-2T running dual channel.

I agree, if my computer is sitting idle I'm always amazed that the CPU could be at 40C.
40??? How is this possible, I was trying to keep it under 80 but... :(oh, it's just uploading a bigadv, sigh.

btw is there a preconfigured VM that you guys know of that gets a new WU then uploads, no downtime? Then I could seed while folding without any performance hit.

nope there is no way of doing it not to mention you would need twice the amount of ram while one WU is being unloaded and the other being loaded into the ram.. at the same time it would also bottle neck all to hell as it swapped data from drive to ram and from ram to drive at the same time..

I added a 140mm fan to the bottom of the radiator pushing and a 140mm fan in the side window. temps are now 82c @3.8 water temps are 32c room temps are 21c roughly.
