Koolance EXOS users...HELP

im researching buying a watercooling system and one of the systems im looking at is the koolance exos, ive read almost every review i can find on it but im not confident in my judgement on how well it will perform for me.

my question is how good, theoretically speaking, would the koolance system be for overclocking my 2.4c? could i hit 3.6ghz with it?
 
koolance sucks

you can go that high on a good air setup

the sp-94 is actualy better then the koolance by a few *C


make your own setup! koolance sucks and about every one will agree unless they have one
 
That depends on way too many factors to give a yes or a no. Most chips meet their max before that will hit 3.6 but the only way to find out is to try it.
 
well, for arguments sake lets say that my 2.4c can hit 3.6 at say 1.6-1.62v....would the exos be capable of cooling it at that point?
 
I would say yes, but I have no personal experience with the Exos. Even good air cooling could cool it also, just depends on what temperature range you are comfortable with.

the koolance isn't ment for "good cooling" it is ment to be quiet

id be content with the temps being around 55C under load. ive seen reviews and benchmarks where they are running the exos on 2.8E's and 2.8C m0 steppings (my 2.4c is an m0 stepping) and they are getting great overclocks with it with temps that i think are suitable for me. my thought is if it can cool a 2.8E it should be more than enough for my 2.4c
 
Well, I'm not running a Intel system but you can get some idea about the EXOS performance from my AMD system as to Voltage, Mhz, and heat !
I would get the new brushed Al one as to there are some small but effective improvements!
Now as to those that just state "Koolance Sucks" well just how much first hand experience have you had with them ?

I got an EXOS for christmas and I love it. The only reason I got it was b/c my rig sounded like a jet. The AERO7+ is krazy loud + 5 case fans...nbridge and finally videocard. It gets about the same as a good HSF and instead of 8 fans, you have 3 on the EXOS and if you dont cool you video card, 4 fans. The noise level is so much lower.

If, when hl2/doom3 are released and the machine is showing any kind of dawging i'm gunna get a new chip and some mean WC.

EXOS also gave me a little insight into how WC works

Overall it's a good starting WC if you really just want quieter case, say you have water cooling and to get into watercooling:D
 
Really, I'm amazed at how fast people will crap on a Koolance thread.

Either way, I would say give the koolance a go. At the least you will have a taste of what watercooling can do, and maybe get you into working on assembling your own rig from the ground up.

The bonuses to assembling your own is that you get to pick exactly what goes in, and often can do things that can't be done with an extrnal box like the exos. One of those is the use of very high surface radiators....even if you can hook one up to an exos..why would you want to...it defeats teh purpose.

But if you want, give it a shot. Just remeber that if you desire to upgrade, amny of those external units as well as the koolance case are not easily upgradeable outside of their own specially designed parts, while AIY gear is often done to a few set standards (3/8 or 1/2 ID or 1/2 OD [swiftech speedfit connectors]).
 
Well first of all, the OP is asking an unanswerable question. Sorry but there's no way anyone here can tell you how far your CPU will OC with any given cooling setup.

As for me and my Exos, I'm happy. I was in the same situation as many with a airplane under my desk. I had a SmartFan II blowing on a Thermalright AX-478 heatsink and my Koolance dropped my load temps by 6 degrees Celcius. I also got a few more MHz out of my FSB.

I am under no illusion though, the Exos, being a 1/4" system, does not compare with a good 1/2" setup. But to those that would bash the Exos for this reason I say "Duh!" Of course it doesn't, why should it?

my doubts about whether or not the exos will have good enough cooling power for my needs have been answered, so ill be buying the koolance unit shortly. but do i get the cpu-200 or the cpu300 block?
 
Ive got a black exos on my p4 2.0a @ 2.8 with a zalman block. Temps seem to stay around 40c at 100% load. I just ordered a 300 cpu block that im going to use on a exos al. the al is going a on a xp2500 @ 2.5 ghz. It has thermalright 800 on it now with a 80mm tornado. temps stay around 43c 100% load,,, but threes the noise of the tornado...lolol I have a dd4, rads, pumps, hose and all that crap. it isnt worth the work to roll your own for 2 or 3 degrees cooler temps. i like my exos and will be buying more!!

way back when, i used EXOS to run my 2.8C at 3.5 and 9700pro volt-modded at 405/330. it is a *good* system - the best pre-made w/c you can get.
 
well, its nice to see that theyre are some exos fans. ive decided on the exos for me...thanks alot everyone, ill post pictures and benchmarks of my system when i get everything in place

If your chip can handle it your Koolance will handle it with ease. Don´t listen to people who says it sucks. Those people have know sense of scale. To them it´s either do it yourself or it sucks no matter how good it cools :rolleyes:
