I have a friend in the Chicago area that sells knocks offs, replicas of high end items that look almost like the real thing, but with a deviation.. like in the name (Prado instead of Prada, Couch instead of Coach, etc...). As gay as it sounds, he sells purses, handbags, watches, and jewelry.

I was wondering if it is illegal and arrestable. He says that it's not illegal because the names on his products are altered. What's the consensus? Please offer some proof or websites. TIA!

You could say it is fraud, but i think it is legal. But the question certainly isn't General Hardware, unless he sells mobos called ABLIT or ASSUS, or RAM called Magic Musshkin.....

sorry, I didn't know where else to post this.
Certainly not at a website called [H]ard|Forum...

Just like you can buy nice Rolex's at the County Fair. I don't think that it is illegal, Knock-Off's are sold everywhere.

Who cares? Why are you busting his balls when he's just trying to make a living? Seriously though, I think that knock-offs are quite legal like the rest of the people here are saying.
