Just got back from BestBuy, $350 the lighter. Set up the new speakers, replacing an old pair originally from a Vaio and a cheap Yamaha sub.

Been listening for a couple of hours.

I believe I have seen the light.

OK, it's been another hour or two. So far:

...Noticing flaws in MP3s that sounded "fine" before. The better ones sound *great* though. Do I now need to rip at above 192 kbps?

...Played some Far Cry - sounded nifty.

...Played some Doom 3 - changed underwear.

Well, who would have thought it. I've always used 2.1 generic speakers, even though I was spending "lots" on the other components. I'm getting the impression that I've been missing about a quarter of the equation.

And this with me building my own guitar tube amps. I should know better!
