I just found a trade for my ipod. My pod for the Klipsch Promedia 5.1's. I have the 2.1's right now. This will be my first 5.1 set of speakers, and I just ordered my new monitors so I'm thinking maybe just watching alot of DVD's and shit on this comp. Anybody have these speakers and could give me a little insight on what I am to expect?

Did you get the regular 5.1s or the Ultras? Either way they are a great set of speakers. Some of the older promedias had a lot of proplems with the amps going out on them, but soundwise they can't be beat.
I had the regular 5.1s before running into the aforementioned problems. They sounded amazing during its lifetime, but there are better speaker sets out there nowadays. The price of a used ipod, or even used-ipod mini can get you some of them. If you can get the trade for money instead right now, I suggest modifying your deal.
However, if you can't change the deal don't sweat it either. It's not that they're bad speakers. If you don't know what better sounding speakers sound like, what does it matter that there are better ones out there(A kid who's never heard of chocolate won't regret not having tried it)? You've enjoyed the 2.1s, you'll like the 5.1s even better.

Hmmm, y'know it depends on why you're getting these speakers. Are you mainly looking to get surround sound? On second thought, for 5.1 at the $200ish pricepoint that ipod is worth, the original klipsch 5.1 promedias are probably the best you can get at that price. $50 or so dollars more can get you the much better Logitech z-5500s, or preferably even the ultra promedias.
However, if you're upgrading primarily for listening to music, then the 2.1 Logitech z-2300s sound much better and are only about $100 on Newegg(shipping not included). More powerful woofer than the klipsch 5.1 promedias, and clearer speakers to boot.
Going from the 2.1 to the 5.1, you get a bigger subwoofer, but the speakers themselves are the same.
However, if you're upgrading primarily for listening to music, then the 2.1 Logitech z-2300s sound much better and are only about $100 on Newegg(shipping not included). More powerful woofer than the klipsch 5.1 promedias, and clearer speakers to boot.

Are Logitech speakers known to be high quality speakers?
How do the Z-2300s compare to the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1?
I keep reading that Klipsch uses high quality materials, never heard anything about Logitech. I would like something with 5.1 or 4.1 but I rather have the surround speakers integrated into the main speakers to save space.

I'd prefer the Klipsch over the Logitech any days, as the highs and the bass of Logitechs keep me away...
As for the amp it has been a known problem for the original Promedia 5.1s, if the person bought them in the time that this was going on, Klipsch offered an extended warranty, so even my pair of 5.1s are still covered under warranty.
The difference between the Ultra and non-ultras is negligible besides the control box, bigger sub, and some more wattage passing to the satellites.
Either way if you don't like over saturated bottom out Bass I would steer clear of any Logitech speakers, unless you are like a lot of people and like the bottoming out boom, then be my guest.
