Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Mod?

I was given a Promedia 5.1 sub and control unit. I curently have a promedia 2.1 system. I don't really have room for a 5.1 system but could I use the 5.1 sub and hook bookself speakers up to it. Maybe even hook both the front and rear outputs to 1 speaker for double the power?

And which cheap speakers would get the job done?

You can use other speakers, but you might check ebay for used sats for that. I see them on ebay for about 10 to 20 bucks each. Also you can get sats for about 25 each at Klipsch. as for bridging, outputs I say no...

Just use normal bookself speakers on the front outs and eventually you can fill the other outputs. At like 60W per channel into 6ohms I don't think you will ever need to bridge the channels. Just leave it as it is, you will get plenty of volume.

I think the sub crosses over at 120hz or something pretty high. Good bookshelf speakers should be able to go much lower. If you can change the internal crossover this might work.

Good bookshelf speakers should go to 80 Htz and roll off sharply. 80 is about when sounds become non-directional, and as such this is a good place to do bass crossover.
