the klipsch cables are really thin gauge wire ~ barely enough to get the job done. If you want to make your own cable buy lamp cable of choice or speaker wire of choice. You will need to solder on mono-miniplugs on one end and leave the other end bare/soldered or crimped with banana plug; SQ increase is marginal but worth the effort.
With Klipsch being in business creating audio hardware for what, over 60 years, with a shitload of favorable and very high end reviews that say they know what they're doing, I doubt seriously that the choice of wire gauge in the Promedia 2.1 series is going to be that relevant in the big picture. Seriously, these are speakers designed for multimedia purposes, and I've got a pair and they're crystal clear, perhaps the best 2.1 speakers ever made (given their designed purpose).
I would seriously doubt that any human being would notice the difference between the original factory installed wiring gauge and something larger. People take this "audio quality" thing a wee bit too far sometimes, as in the case of the $480 "Silver Rock Signature Knob" from years past. $480 for a wooden volume control knob.
But it's all marketing more often than not. Make a product sound good, throw out claims, make promises, and the shee---people come a'flockin' in. Monster Cable has cornered the market on that over the years, that's for damned sure.
Don't waste money and possible damage to the speakers you've got in the hopes of a theoretical improvement in sound (might be technically measurable, but our limited human ears just can't notice such incredibly minute differences).
The wire that come with the Klipsch are of very bad and poor quality, it doesnt affect performance much, but I find that the connections in the sattelites are poor. Most of the time, contact is great, but sometimes when I bump the desk, and the satelites shakes, noise is produced. I would have liked Klipsch to include good wires, but there is nothing I can do about that. Other than that though, its been excellent.
If you really to upgrade the cables, Klipsch sells monster cables:
