I got a set of wireless 2.1 Promedias delivered on Friday. I ordered direct from Klipsch. Set has a power switch on the back. The instructions warned me it would pop if I flipped it on or off... wasn't too happy to see that; the manual also states this won't damage your speakers. I've opted to keep them powered on full time for now. But it bothers me they do not have a power mute relay.
Sound is not bad for the money at all, because really the wireless is not necessary and they are $140 (cheap) without it and $200 with (not as cheap at ALL and not worth it if the units are the same otherwise). The mids and tweets are... warming up I think? Excellent imaging at low volume. The sub needs some burn-in or just isn't that great even at low volume but it's not bad--just a little hollow so far. I just really haven't got to test them much.
I've been out of the audio "loop" for a while. I used to build mobile audio systems using good equipment like Focal and Dynaudio. I was into using line-drivers for high voltage clean signal; I was also a concert percussionist and I know good sound. I would recommend these speakers for low to mid volume but again, the "pop" on power on/off bothers me and makes me wonder about the longevity issue. I put a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade on them, but I may send them back because right now I have to run them 24/7 in order to avoid the DC thump or "pop" at power on/off. If you use the switch its a loud thump no matter the volume, if you cut the power with a battery backup or surge protector they "pop" high pitched good and loud. Super annoying. I suppose it's not a problem to run them 24/7? I'm going to ask Klipsch about it today and I'll report back.
Edit: Yeah these are going back. If you even touch the back of the sub they pop thump and there is no way to turn them off without it happening. People must just leave them on 24/7. I'm paying return shipping on these because Klipsch doesn't even pay return shipping on defective items. Not even if a DOA item needs repair under warranty, according to 2 separate Klipsch reps I spoke with. What a bullshit company Klipsch turned into. If you are going to bother with these, skip the wireless, it's a joke, and order from Amazon. Never ever order anything direct from Klipsch. One of their reps claimed that the set only consumes 1 watt of power even while playing music... another admitted that while it was a "disconcerting sound" and impossible to avoid when powering on or off the unit, it was harmless. I seriously doubt it's harmless. Probably part of the reason these don't last very long according to just about everyone who's bought them in the last 4-5 years.
