Do you speakers make a constant low level 'hiss' ? My 2.1 GMX ones do it, even when I turn them off the control station thing, and it's annoying. Only way to get rid of it is to flip the power switch no the sub.

This seems to be a problem innate to the GMX models, both 5.1 and 2.1.
Yeah, Klipsch even admits it on their website.

So the regular ProMedia 2.1s don't have this problem? I'll probably be switching soon.

Have the promedia 2.1s with the m-audio revolution. Running these speakers with the volume turned up all the way results in a noise which I cannot hear more then a few inches from the speakers. At basically any other volume they have no noise which I can hear.

No, I have no hissing issues with my Klipsch 2.1's.

No issues however when I sold a pair to a client and hooked them to his onboard sound they sound like shit compared to audigy.

Dont waste your money unless you have a good card.

that's about all I could find too

I was hoping to get them for around $100 shipped

If you can afford it, go with the 4.1s. I mean, you are using that system for gaming, right? Or have you learned the way of the headphone?

Well I'm not sure what to do. I am getting some HD580s, but I don't want to give up my desktop speakers completely.

I don't like these GMX, but I wanted a pretty good set, so I was hoping I could find the regular ones pretty cheap. I didn't want to spend more than $100, but it seems silly not to pay $30 more for 4.1.

I would like to find some comparable speakers for about $50, if possible (see thread here).
