Klipsch PM2.1 volume static fix

I've heard that static while changing volume with the satelite mounted volume knob is a common problem with Klipsch's Pro Medias.

Well, after about a year of use, my PM's are beginning to exhibit this trait. I've searched all over for a fix and I've come up with nothing. With the 4.1's, you can unscrew the volume control panel and lube up the inside of the volume knob for a quick and easy fix. However, I dont see any way to remove the control panel from the 2.1s

Anybody know either:

how to fix the static-y volume knob or...

how to remove the control panel thingy from the PM 2.1's satelite?

I have the same problem. No matter what I do, I can't get it to work properly.
Klipsch will send me a replacement pod, but they're not in stock, and haven't been for a while. If its under waranty it should be free, but If not it'll be $21 + shipping.
As for removing it, take off the stand, then slide the pod back. It might take some force, but It will come off.
 
Well, problem solved!

Thanks Bugalaman for the instructions on how to take the pod off.... I don't know how I never noticed that screw down there! I took the pod off and shot some canned air into the area where the knob is. I turned it to both extremes repeatedly, reassembled the pod and crossed my fingers.....

Static gone!

Most certainly not a permanent fix, but it was easy enough and only required unscrewing a few screws.
