All the memory talk....and I hardly ever hear much about Kingston. Why? I went against all good sense and bought 4x 512mb Kingston HyperX KHX5400D2K2 PC2-5400 for my system upgrade. You can ask me why a million times and I wont know ever exactly why I went with this. Actually, I know sooo little abou memory that I stuck with a name brand that was a bit priceyer think you get what you pay for and in that price range, thats all that was avail amongst the big names on zipzoomfly. It cost me a total of $340 for it all.

Any input on my luck of the right choice or stupidity?

yeah, memory is fun stuff. kinda complicated, but once you realize your objective and how to tweak effectively, it's hella fun. i'd personally get something somewhat cheap to start out with until you get the hang of things, then when you feel the need for a memory upgrade, get something with a bit more frills if you like oc'ing ram :D

also, just noiced your location, i'm in rochester too, at RIT to be specific

Already purchased 4x 512mb Kingston HyperX KHX5400D2K2 PC2-5400!!!

My first real step is too really understand all the numbers. I mean I know what they are, but how I can manipulate them correctly and in a positive way without destrying stuff! My Mobo seems pretty easy to OC memory too.

Thanks... I'll check it out...

But again...I don't hear nearly as much about kingston as to other brands here...is there a reason, price, compadibility, loyalty, funtion, oc'ing?????

it's good stuff. i actually own some kingston hyper-x myself, but it's old. they're not really with the cutting edge stuff lately. i'm sure they'll try to make a comeback eventually
