Hi, I am thinking of upgrading my ram from 1Gb of Kingston Value DDR2 (2x512MB) to the Hyper X series. does anyone know what chips are used on Kingston Hyper X DDR2 modules.

most likely D9GMH or D9GKX. what are you doing that you need such absurdly expensive memory though? the performance difference between that stuff and cheap ddr2-800 ram will probably be <1-2% :p

What do you mean absurdly expensive?? I can get Kingston HyperX 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5400C4 Low Latency Dual Channel Kit (KHX5400D2K2/2G) for £135.11 from a shop in England. Sorry to cause confusion, I should have stated the prices in my original post. BTW, are D9GMH or D9GKX known for good quality chips, like micron and nanya.

P.s. I live in England, if you are refering to an American- based site.

D9... is Micron; D9GKX and D9GMH are considered the creme de la creme of DDR2 chips. GMH is good for tight timings all the way up, whereas GKX will clock higher but with looser timings.

in reply to the query about the dd2 9600, yes it is expensive, and no i would never be able to afford it, but I am not particularly interested in ram of that high spec, unless it is around £150.00. also, thanks for the info on the chips used, as that is the ram i am getting now(hyperX 6400c4).
