Is the Kinect worth getting yet?

I've seen the Sports and dance game raved about but is that it? Is there anything coming out in the future to justify such a purchase? Seems like there was an initial push for kinect and nothing else after it.

I would grab it up if there was some kind of belief it will hold up in the long run. Would be fun for my daughter and I to goof around with it.

eh. Mine collects dust, except when i occasionally have it on with the kid for something.

But that goes the same with my PS3 Move. Although at least now i can play KZ3 and Mag with the move controllers i have more everyday use for it. Kinect still just has the initial base of dance/sports games. They are definitely fun tho, but atm not much else going for it.

kinect is alot of fun if u have parties and friends over alot other than that mine isnt used

I mean I don't hear anything coming out in the future with kinect. They did this huge push and I don't see one commercial anymore. Weird. I know I would have a lot of fun with my kid but I don't think two games justifies getting it.

This week ;)

It just launched, it still is in the 'launch' window so software is sparse. Expect this to be the year of Kinect so to speak. MS has a press event this thursday at GDC, but that will likely be centered around core games being announced. E3 should be the showing for Kinect.

I have one and use it about once a week to play games with my wife. She uses it quite often for Your Shape Evolved. Right now its a fantastic party device, once more software is available it'll be a better overall product.

I read something about Forza 4: featuring support for Kinect as well as the classic controls you’ve come to expect from the Forza series.

Question will Kinect work for a smaller person?(My daughter is 3)

Yes. It detects my almost 3 year old daughter as a blonde headed girl, which she is. She enjoys doing the rafting game in adventures. And kinectimals. She obviously doesnt quite get everything yet, but enough to know that when she jumps it jumps and leaning, etc. Its fun to play with her.

Have had my kinect since about 2 weeks after launch.. Played it twice and havent touched it since.. Was not worth it to me.. Awaiting better games to come out but thats looking to be 6mo-1yr before Ill even touch this thing again.

Wish I woulda traded it in for a move when I had the chance..

Total lack of software and have not seen any real announcements for upcoming games. This was all a test for the next gen consoles.

Pretty much seems that way. Although, with the current supposed 10million sold (or whatever the announcement was) I wouldn't be surprised if there will be much more developer backing than previously expected.

I don't have one but I'd really love to see what they can come up with that is new, fresh, and exciting rather than regurgitating all the previously created motion controlled titles. Push things forward baby!

It's has the novelty appeal for a while and then it just gets old. Kinda of like when the Wii came out and everyone loved it so much, and now everyone of my friend's who has a Wii has it in the garage.

I did end up getting one. Fun to see my daughter kick the ball around. Can eat up some time but summer is around the corner so we won't be indoors much heh

about to toss my kinect up on ebay or FS honestly. have 4 launch games with it and my kid has more fun with eyepet than kinectimals. Although she does like to say "i am the controller" while playing kinectimals, which is funny.

It freakin detects my 16 month old son as a person crouching next to me, its annoying!

I think the Kinect will pick up steam in a bit, remember the launch consoles didn't really get any games better then decent above the launch games for a bit, my 360 stayed off for a good while until it got something released that was interesting. I think the Kinect will see a few good games in the next couple of months or somewhere after E3. I'm not ready to jump ship yet but my Kinect stay offs for the most part, but my wife likes the zumba work out on it.

I just got one. Really more for the wife and kid but they love it. After the little guy is tucked into bed strip kinect sports is fun :D

Played it for a few days and now it is sitting in the basement. It needs some new creative games, but so far I have heard of nothing. I feel a bit taken by Microsoft.

Only reason I'd get a Kinect is to hook it up to my PC and see what kinda fun things I can do it with it after the Kinect SDK is released.
