Kinda Disappointed.

Installed my new XSPC 360 on my 930 and I have downclocked it to 3.08 from 3.36, which is still a pitiful OC tbh, but I did it so I could do my thermal cycling.

I used Arctic Silver 5 and just passed 120 hours into the cycling, running prime 95 from the time I get home till the time I leave for work, with the computer completely off while I am at work. I work 12-14 hours a day so it's pretty even. I was going to keep cycling but I have reached the point where I have stopped seeing drops in temps.

Right now at IDLE my CPU is at 55c. My 470's are at 45c... wtf... lol

HAF X case is setup with standard front fan, two 110cfm megaflow's on top pushing down on rad, with 2 (couldnt fit the third, but thats normal for this case apparently) coolmaster turbine 1.8 81cfm fans pulling. The side door is another megaflow reversed which is the psudo norm for this case. Rear fan is a scyth slip stream 140mm.

All my board and gpu temps have dropped, but my CPU is just too high. I am thinking I should be in the high 30's at best idle.

Any idea's?

I have the same case. Not sure why you can't get that 3rd 120 fan on there since I have 3 nf-p12's on my setup no problem. Maybe larger rad.

You say 470 as a plural so I'm assuming you have 2 video cards. Are those also on water? I don't believe a 360 rad is sufficient enough for a cpu and 2x 470's. Especially one that isn't getting air from a 120mm section. The 470s would heat the water too much.

Another thing you might look into is that even though you lowered the clocks down you might not have lower the voltage back down if it was changed prior.

The radiator is not the problem. You might have your block on too tight, the temps get thrown off if the block is too tight or too loose.

No, the 470's are on air. Let me back the block off a 1/4 turn and see what that gives me. Thanks.

No effect. :/

Cant fit the third fan on my rad because the blades make contact with the fan controller in the first 5.25 bay.

You're definitely doing something wrong. My i7 920 @ 4GHz idled way less than that with only an XSPC RS240.

Just to clear things up: you're running ONLY the CPU in this loop?

What parts does your loop consist of?

I bet he got a RS360 or RX360 kit, based on his wording.

The only thing I can think of (if it really is the RX360 kit) is poor block mounting, or too much thermal paste, or too little. I have the XSPC Rasa (same waterblock used in the RX360 kit) with a GTS 420 in a CPU loop only (my sig needs updating, I haven't added in the GPU's yet). I get ~35 C idle temps at 4.2 ghz.

What are your load temps though? That is what is important, not idle temps.

Ya I am going to remove and re-mount the block when I get home, although it's pretty straight forward...

XSPC Rasa 750 RS360 is the kit I got.

Max temp with Prime 95 Torture Test is 83c. Games it's in the upper 60's. Ambient temp is ~81f.

So is this loop CPU only or not?

How much effective airflow is your radiator getting? Megaflows don't look very good for pushing air through a radiator, but it should help that you've got fans in pull.

How do you tighten the screws on your Rasa when you mount (pattern)?

Yes CPU only. I used the 360 only so I would have expansion options later.

For tightening the screws on the waterblock, I wasnt aware there was a designated patern to follow. Like most CPU coolers I just went from top left to bottom right, top right, to bottom left in 1/2 to 3/4 turns untill it was hand tight then backed it off a bit.

That sounds about right.

The only thing I can think of is that you're not getting good enough airflow through your radiator. Try feeling your reservoir or radiator when under load. I know when my i7 hits 80 C, the water temperature is usually about 10 C above ambient, which you can definitely feel. If it is not, then you're having poor heat transfer between the block and the CPU.

Well I completely removed my block, cleaned it up with arctic clean and replaced the thermal paste/remounted.

39c idle and lol 52 under torture test pre thermal cycle vice before 53 idle 83 under torture.

Sounds much more like what I got before I started overclocking my CPU. I used Arctic Ceramique 2 as my thermal compound.

ya, I am running at 3.85 atm and 46c idle 62 torture. Going to run prime all night for a thermal cycle, see if it drops then bump it up to 4.1 if i can. So far I have not had to add voltage. I cannot believe I let myself get talked out of the 950 :/

Get rid of those big fans on the rad and replace them with 120mm fans with high static pressure, like Gentle Typhoons. High CFM doesn't mean squat when it comes to rads, it's all about the static pressure. Those megaflow fans have very low static pressure.

This man knows what he is talking about. I would think the fans are the main problems with your setup, definitely get some cheap Yate Loons in there and your temps should get much lower. Cheap 20$ fix =)

Did you flush the radiator out with hot distilled water before installing? There can be sediment inside such as solder flux.
