Killzone Shown At GDC07

The crew at Kotaku got to sit in on a tech demo of the upcoming PS3 game Killzone. What they had to say about what they saw was less than stellar, here’s a quote:

Visually it was certainly less impressive than the infamous E3 2005 pre-rendered target trailer, that's for sure. Animation quality varied, looking awkward at times. Moments smacked uncomfortably of Vivendi's F.E.A.R. and will probably cause a bit of !!!!!! ruckus when it's finally shown to the public this July at E3. There's obviously a long way to go, but, in my opinion, Sony was very wise to have kept the game under wraps and not tarnish today's Home and LittleBigPlanet announcements.

Just as i thought, From the moment at E3 when they showed the tech demo everyone who wasnt a !!!!!! knew it was Bogus, Sony has a lot of explaining to do, they are gonna be going the way of the DODO if they keep this up.
 
I will hold my judgement until I can actually pick up a controller and play it myself.
 
That's OK, I usually get lambasted because the news that has been out there lately about Sony has been bad (like I invent the news), had this been Halo 3 showing up at GDC looking like crap, after all the fancy footage we’ve seen on it, you damned right I’d be reporting on it too.
 
I can't say I'm surprised that it isn't all they hyped it up to be. The original Killzone sucked, and I see no reason why KZ2 will be different. I remain cautiously optimistic - after all the preview wasn't entirely bad. Not to mention KZ2 has a 20 million dollar budget.... 2x the GoW budget. Still, Guerrilla Games - the guys making KZ2 - have never made a great game. Their track record is short, and not very impressive.
 
We'll simply have to see... 1 reporters opinion won't make up my mind. The Killzone game concept is pretty cool. Definately reminds me of a futuristic WW2 thing. Helghast being Nazi of course. However, while I did..enjoy.. the game, it remains one of the very few games I did not finish...



 
Yeah, I remember the repeated forum beatings from the PS3 !!!!!!s regarding this game. Look at you now!

Well, it could go either way.

The fact that the original E3 fake footage was represented as actual in-game footage (then actual "sped up" in-game footage...to finally, "oops, we meant to say that it was rendered") wouldn't matter one lick if the game DOES look and play that good.

So here is to crossing our fingers that they pull it off and get the game looking at least close so they can deflect some of the criticizm. If the game comes out and is a turd on top of the original fake footage...well, we all know how that will go over. :eek:
 
lol, gee it doesn't look as good as the target render...no shock there. Neither did Motor Storm, but it still looks good and is a fun game.
