I'll update these as they come in;)

IGN 9.4
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/949/949161p1.html

"Phenomenal visuals prove that Guerrilla either met or surpassed that infamous E3 trailer. Some technical issues hold it back from being a completely flawless masterpiece."

IGN AU 9.0
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/948/948773p1.html
"Killzone 2 is one of the finest, most visually unified games ever made. Period. It's a rush to just sit back and watch, almost to the point of distraction. It uses colour and lighting to evocative effect, while impressing on a technical level as much as an artistic one. The framerate is locked at 30 frames per second and we never encountered any slowdown. Incredible.

Eurogamer 9/10
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/killzone-2-review
"The internet will no doubt rage for weeks as to whether Killzone 2 is the best-looking console game evah, but it's fair to say that if there's a list, it's going to be near the top."

Gameplayer 9.5
http://www.gameplayer.com.au/gp_documents/090130KIllzone-2.aspx
"Killzone 2 marches other console shooters to the existing benchmark, and unceremoniously bends them over it."

Gamepro 5/5
http://www.gamepro.com/article/reviews/208727/killzone-2/
"It's still early, but this one already reeks of shooter of the year."

Joystiq

"I'll simply say that while most graphics dazzle for only a few minutes before you become desensitized to them, Killzone 2's good looks continually demand to be noticed and appreciated."

Videogamer 9/10
http://www.videogamer.com/ps3/killzone_2/review.html
"Bringing a building to its knees with a turret; nailing a gas canister and watching it spiral out of control; pinning a Helghast to a wall with the bolt gun and watching him writhe in agony; letting rip with the superb flamethrower; watching hundreds of bullets whiz and ping, sending chunks of concrete flying off of pillars and exposing electrical cabling underneath; marvelling at the most stunning, eye-catching war torn backgrounds and skylines your gaming eyes ever did see, makes Killzone 2 the best looking game ever made - a jaw dropping graphical showcase from start to finish."

Killzone 2 is a gritty and profound experience that I won't forget in a long time.

I like how IGN gives this a 9.5 graphically when 1. There is nothing that matches (Shutup Crysis), and 2. They gave GTA IV a 10/10 graphics rating.
But at least they gave it near perfect.

While I don't agree that nothing matches it (based on my experience with the beta), I am surprised by the 10/10 for GTAIV. But many have noted that those are the best graphics seen for an open world non loading type sandbox game....so in that context, I can see it. Compared to the hundreds of other titles out there overall, not a chance.

Killzone 2 is gold now, and that is all that matters.

wow some nice reviews, won;t put too much weight on them though. Will wait for some player reviews lol...btw isn;t this dropping end of next month?

Dropping next week in demo form if you pre-ordered from ebgames. Did I mention I pre-ordered? :):):)

At best i think GTA deserves a 7/10. Thats being generous too. Every reviewer blew their load so fast and by the time you get to the 3rd island, you dont care about anything anymore.

In any case, im extremely excited to sit and be in awe by the world. Im hearing MP is as good as, or better than COD4 which is going to make me wish i had more time in the day to play games. These official reviews i cant really believe, but it looks to me they speak the truth. Only the beta will tell me if its good.

Yeah I don't understand that, I think the hype train had a hold on IGN a little to hard when GTA4 hit, I thought it looked like poo.

Compared to what? What kind of a gives you such scale and detail while looking so good?

IGN 9.4

9.5 Presentation
Everything from the first entrance onto the battlefield to the last cutscene creates a hectic, fun and fast-paced thrill ride through a warzone where each step you take could be your last.
9.5 Graphics
Phenomenal visuals prove that Guerrilla either met or surpassed that infamous E3 trailer. Some technical issues hold it back from being a completely flawless masterpiece.
9.0 Sound
7.1 channel sound captures every nuance of the battlefield from gunshots to screams along with a great soundtrack. Weakly delivered, curse-filled dialogue (sans Brian Cox) could've been done better.
9.0 Gameplay
You'll have to get used to the firearms as well as the AI on both sides. More turret and vehicle sections would've been great, but outside of that, the single-player campaign is fun to play through.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
Multiplayer is extremely deep and has the added bonus of an offline skirmish mode. This is where you'll spend the majority of your time once the credits roll.

ERROR ERROR we need a separate thread for each review. ;)

*insert a "Killzone 1 was bad so the number 2 won't be any better" comment here*

Nothing in this generation of consoles will ever come close to being in the same realm, let alone matching the graphical fidelity of crysis.

Still looking forward to KZ2 though.

well, the user average on metacritic is 6.3, sooo... ;)

Never a good sign when you see huge disparancies between users and professional critics. I personally don't think professional reviews are worth the paper they are written on these days.

or it could be the fanboy warz that have had people sabotaging the reviews for LBP, Gears 2, and now Killzone on metacritic.

IGN is such a fucking joke. Why do people insist on quoting their shitty reviews when trying to lend credibility to a game?

Regardless, nice to see KZ2 just might live up to its expectations. I really liked the first KZ, so this might be enough to make me take the plunge and get a PS3 down the track somewhere.

Metacritic relies on a simple user vote system. you basically rate the game out of 10. Since the game isnt released yet, and there is somehow 79 user ratings. It should be noted that one does not need to play the game to post a score.

Im not defending the game yet as I havent played it, but I suspect in this case its safer to trust actual review scores over random scores made by people who havent played it yet.

Its so true. IGN is an epic sellout when it comes to game reviews. Remember, they give games with +20 hours a bad score on single player based on the length of the game, yet they give the 4 hour SP L4D a skyhigh rating.

I just posted the review's plus a quote, never said I thought IGN was credible.

Game sited are always hit and miss, but they do give you a general idea of how the game is.

The ign review is comparable in score to most of the other posted reviews so far. What makes it a joke?

IGN is a joke. They always over-rate. Look at DOA extreme beach volleyball. They gave it a 9 somethin'. Official PS magazine gives Killzone 2 a ten. Quite unbiased there. The only one I can take seriously is Eurogamer. They're always stingy in their reviews. As such, I trust them quite a bit more.

Look foward to trying it.

So IGN is WAY TOO HIGH with a 9.4, but you trust eurogamer at a 9.0 because they're always stingy? Makes sense....

That .4 sure is a huge discrepancy

Is the demo even out yet? What are these users basing their opinions on? Fanboyism?

Metacritic is definitely the hot spot for user reviews.....

not.

They also were one of the only places to give PES2008 a high score when it was an absolute dog turd of a game, all seemed obvious when you saw they were being advertised on the pitch side boards.....

IGN = fail.

Try the game yourself guys, make your own mind up instead of following a set of numbers like drones.

i can only judge by the videos ive seen and it has me psyced more than any other game, seeing as resistance 2 was lacking something i couldnt put my finger on, i hope this lives up to the hype. as i can only watch low quality vids on my broadband, if the game surpasses the e3 cgi malarky in the graphics department then i will be impressed.

I'll admit I'm a graphic's WHORE, but the thing I think I'm most interested is the hit detection on the enemies, it reminds me of fear but alot more realistic. And the multiplayer cuz I didn't get a chance to play it and I've heard most feed back say it's like CoD4 and some say better and if that's the case I'll be in heaven man. I've prestiged in CoD4 9 times until it finally got old and one match I had 86 kills (shamefully bragging:Dbut have pick to prove it) But really excited for the multiplayer.

I've also heard that the HD videos don't do the game justice, that you really need to play it on an HD tv for yourself and see it in motion. But I hope the multiplayer looks as good or comparable to the singleplayer.

Sorry to play the cynic, but I find pre-release reviews from the major sites/magazines of high profile titles amazingly unreliable. For a game with as much hype and history as Killzone 2, I'll wait to see the community reactions before I throw down my $60.
