Killing the wall outlet..?

Hey.

You know those powerbars with a bunch of outlets? To power my MediaPC I need to buy another powerbar to attach to one. I'm hoping this wont kill the wall outlet. It'll power....

PC
Router
Moudem
27" TV
DVDPlayer
VCR
Reciever
LD/CD Player
Dreamcast

That's 9 sockets where it was only supposed to be 2. What's going to be on 24/7:

PC
Router
Modem

The most that will be on at one time would be those 3 plus TV, Reciever, Dreamcast (or DVDPlayer or VCR). The LD/CD Player will hardly be used, because we watch DVDs now.

So really... the most would be 6 sockets where it was supposed to be for 2. Thoughts? I don't wanna kill the electrical system in my house, or start a fire...

Shouldn't be an issue. Most domestic AC circuits are 15A service.....you could add up the power consumption of the stuff you have plugged in, and see how close you are. My guess is "no worries" based on the list you gave.

i'd be concerned about the TV startup current. Maybe a backup UPS with AVR to isolate the computer from the short voltage drop of turning the TV on.

Monster makes power strips with 12 outlets on them intended for high end home theater equipment. So, if one of those doesnt overload the circuit then you should be alright with 9 on 2 seperate outlets.

It really doesn't matter how many things you have plugged in or where you plug them in(one outlet or over several outlets). Everything along the way(wiring, outlets, power strips) should be able to handle 15 amps. It makes no difference whether you pull the current through one outlet or several, so you should be fine.
