Killing Floor 3

Never heard of the Killing Floor series. But this looks really cool

KF2 is still running strong - can pick it up for dirt cheap and find many hours of intense action to fill your hearts content.

Looks interesting, used to play the original game a lot back then and invested more than 1000 hours on it. KF2 was good as well and had better mechanics than the first game but never really got into it much. Will check this one out when it arrives.

Looking forward to this one. These games are solid fun. Hope they keep custom maps as an option. I don't play too many custom maps in KF2, but I do play one here and there and some are well made.

I signed my son and I up months ago and low and behold, they sent out a qualifying survey email last week and I didn't see it until today.... Can't click it anymore. Hoping this didn't fully disqualify me.

Killing Floor 3 dev building “detailed action plan” after negative beta response

Closed Beta did not do so well.... looks like Tripwire is rethinking some strategies. Only article I can see on this, so let's see.

"Killing Floor 3 developer Tripwire Interactive has canceled a planned livestream for its long-awaited zombie game as it works on “building a detailed action plan” to address concerns raised by its recent beta.
The stream, originally set to take place today, Thursday February 27, was planned to discuss fixes and improvements made from the divisive test build. However, the studio now says it is doing “more deep dives” into potential changes and that more detailed news will arrive later on."

Game needs a large shift in game design and content. Not something that can happen a month away from release without a huge delay. Or call it something else and make it a spin off as it was only a Killing Floor game in name only.

I played the beta once, didn't really feel it. I played as the support class and had fun activating guns and stuff, it ran well on my 7800X3D/RTX3090, but I didn't feel the urge to return to it.

Creative Director at Tripwire Interactive, Bryan Wynia said “Since delaying the launch of Killing Floor 3, we’ve dedicated the additional development time to responding to the community’s feedback, ensuring the next chapter in the much-loved cult action/horror franchise lives up to our shared vision,” adding “The support from our fans has been incredible, and with the new July 24th release date in sight, we’re thrilled to bring that vision to players not just at launch, but through the continued support of new features and content that is a hallmark of our studio.”

3840x1080 is that maximum resolution for the test. Lame! But it did run well for the few rounds I played.

With the reports we have gathered from this past week's test,we have been working on addressing several key items including:

  • Improved Client and Server Stability resolving a crash related to blood and gore
  • Improving late wave blood splatter performance (a major contributor to frame spikes)
  • Optimized foliage rendering
  • Reduced Shader permutations to speed load and lower memory use
  • Fixed player auth issues encountered during the previous stress tests
  • Fixed several issues players experienced when trying to form a party and matchmaking
  • Players are now prevented from being matchmade in during the boss wave or after action report, players that join via invite should no longer end up in a broken state
  • Adjusted several PC options that were defaulting to incorrect values which could result in input lag on some hardware configurations. Some of these do not yet have player facing controls.
    • Mouse Smoothing (now off by default)
    • Vysnc (now off by default and can be turned back on by the player)
    • FSR Frame Generation (now off by default), FSR Super Sampling remains available

Regarding Stress Test NDA

While we're unable to update the build to remove the message, we've made the decision to not enforce the NDA for this next playtest session. So please stream and share to your heart's content!

Special Notes:

Killing Floor 3 performance and stability work remains of high importance and is something the team will be continuing to address and work on along with other critical fixes that we hope to deploy in a hotfix post launch.

We are also continuing to action player feedback that did not fit into our current launch window which includes:

  • Nightfall Specialists (characters) being able to pick any Perk
  • Enhanced and Refined Third Person Animations for character movement and weapon handling
  • Making Text Chat available for in server communication
We’ll be sharing more details and our post launch roadmap in the days ahead.

Known Issues:

There are also a few known issues that the team is already aware of and working to resolve in our launch window (which could be post launch). These items can be found on our Support Site here:

https://support.killingfloor3.com/en/knowledgebase/article/known-issues

We have also added new articles to help players who are experiencing other issues, such as around performance or input lag.

NDA discussion is no mas - ended. /Discussion

Out Today see how the Reviews go. Last Tripwire game I picked up was Maneater.

I'm actually enjoying it - sure - some elements from KF2 I wish the game had. And I don't like the lobby system - having a base of operations like all these other games are doing is ... meh - But it definitely feels like the Killing Floor universe. Action is superb so far and the customization is next level compared to the previous two KF's.

I also like the cross play function - it's nice to see PC, PS5 and Xbox players all in one lobby.

Average number of steam players is looking pretty bad, for good reason.

I'm as big of a Killing Floor fan as they get. I too am disappointed in KF3s current state. There's just not enough meat on the bones. Why oh why did they have to change so much to seem different than KF2?

What I was hoping for
UE5 with similar mechanics of KF2(perks, lots of weapons, fun grind, lots of replay value, etc) and some modernized UI and QOL changes. Done, sold, shipped, success!

But nope.
