Is there a way of killing a process automaticaly when launching a program.
For example when launching a game, kill the anti-virus/spyware checker etc...

Or a program to kill several processes in one go?

You could write up a batch file that uses taskkill (or taskill) to end the process and then have it kick off the game's exe file.

If you need to kill AV or Anti-Spyware software just to run a game, perhaps it's time for a computer upgrade? I have MS Anti-Spyware and Symantec Corporate AV running, and doesn't affect the performance of my system in any game.

My main is an HTPC as well, so I just have it exclude the directories I'm recording too. Otherwise, I drop frames while recording. ;)

computers fine, i just dont want a virus scanner/spyware running in the background.

that's fine....just do everyone a favor and pull the network cable out of the back, and that's fine!

I use taskkill for this...just a nice double click on the batch and you are set.

Taskill+batch should do it, but I would just set your scanners to run at a time when your not using the PC. We all gotta sleep sometime.
