Keyboard won't work

My keyboard suddenly stopped working. No reason I was sitting at my desk and it suddenly stopped working. I'm using the On-Screen keyboard so I can't test to see if its the keyboard or the coonection. Any one heard of key boards just dying?

BTW it's a logitech keyboard.

Anything I can do short of buying a new one?

First question: Is it wireless? If so, replace batteries and reconnect with reciever.

Also, I know this sounds werid, but do you have cats?
I had a client once who's cat bit through his USB cable for the printer and it wouldn't work anymore. It took a lot of close inspection to figure out what made it fail since USB cords don't usually randomly go dead. We found tiny tooth marks that penetrated just enough to break a wire inside.

It's wired and yes I do have a cat. I checked for teeth marks and saw none.

ROFL! I'm going to have to remember that one.

(BTW, if you DIDN'T have cats, I'd say check for mouse teethmarks instead. They chew on cords too.) d-:

Anyway, have you tried plugging your keyboard into a different USB slot?

And logitech what? Logitech is a brand, not a keyboard.

Did you spill anything on the keyboard, something that could've caused it short circuit? Have you tested the keyboard on other computers?

Blow it out, turn it over and shake it. Unplug and replug it in. Try it in another computer to see if it magically starts to work. Then if all else fails sounds like your screwed. Go to your favorite store and pick up a new one for $10 or so. No reason on spending a butt load of cash on a keyboard unless you need (want) all the extra bells and do-dads; like media control.

Actually, sometimes the extra bells and whistles are worth it. Mind you, those split-key keyboards have a cost that is beyond bullcrap (honestly, what is ms charging these days? Last I checked it was $50+ just for a keyboard split down the middle.) Actually, I find I type better on a straight keyboard anyway, even if it is maybe more likely to give me carpel tunnel. Anyway, I'm using a logitech desktop keyboard with a volume control and scroller, and I find that it's really nice to be able to use the scroller on the keyboard sometimes. I know, it sounds silly, my mouse scrolls just fine (more smoothly now since I accidentally lost the part that makes it click when trying to clean it out) but, somehow it's just convenient and worth it every now and then. The volume control is a life saver every now and then when I have certain things running and I need to adjust volume but don't want to have to minimize and all that crap (which some games really don't like.) Not to mention that in Winamp those extra media keys are just a wonderful thing. I don't use those extra buttons though (eg webcam and such.) Partially I just don't really need them, partially I just refuse to install the drivers (bah, waste of resources) so can only use the buttons that work without them. Well, it hasn't been but a couple of years or so, but, I can say this keyboard has taken a real beating and survived without issue this long (though the wrist rest keeps getting smoothed to the point that I have to scratch it lest my hands slide off because of my resting my hands on there so long -- yes, I know you aren't supposed to do that...) d-:

Anyway, definitely try what the others have said. I agree that if all those other steps fail, chances are the keyboard itself is finally borked.
