okay, I want a new keyboard. It's a choice between the Cooler Master 'Q' and a Mac keyboard (which if you haven't used them are comfortable as hell) Soo....ideas? Suggestions?

I've used a mac keyboard before and it was crappy as hell. Anyway, I always buy the cheapest keyboard that they have in the place. Right now I have a no name keyboard that is a 100% perfect.:D

I really wanted to get the Cooler Master Q Alloy Keyboard, but I read all the NewEgg review's, and a lot of ppl didn't like it, and they said that it had a lot of problems. I think that I am going to get one anyways and give it a shot, if I don't like it, I can surely sell it at a LAN..

Im using a compaq keyboard (shiver) That i bought years, and years ago.

When it comes to keyboards heavier almost always means better construction, same with PSU's and Cases.

I've never liked the new Mac keyboard, too soft and not enough response for me. They're quiet, but in my room that doesn't matter and I wouldn't want one there.

I've got a Microsoft Natural MultiMedia keyboard which I like. This is my 2nd or third natural keyboard, the first one I don't know where it is and the 2nd went on the fritz. Aside from the second one, I've enjoyed these keyboards.

Another vote here for the Logitech keyboard elite.

Best keyboard I've ever bought. Comfortable and nice key response.

I have this Awsome Sony Keyboard for use on Playstation 2 linux edtion, and i use it for my pc, it is the best keyboard i have ever used. i doubt you could find one tho. nice balance between quiet and the feel.
it has a diamond symbol instead of that crap windows key, so if you use linux or unix it doesnt look out of place:)

It disappeared between my apartment at school and home during a move. Somebody probably wanted it and ran off with it.

I just keep it simple and go with Microsoft :D

Mac keyboards work with PCs?

I tend to really like the Logitech line of keyboards. Have a Access one and it does the job very well. Tried out my friend's elite one and it was also good.

But I much prefer having the laptop style keyboards for some reason. So I got the Viewsonic Slim Keyboard. Looks awesome and is great to type on. Exactly what I was looking for. Keys are a bit tacky, but other than that, it is perfect.

well, given the two choices i would go with the cheaper one
they both do not have any extra buttoms (i.e. back/forward, volume, internet ect...) and are a bit pricey

took the words from my mouth! :)

the only complaint i have with that keyboard is that the keyboard legs are poorly constructed. one of mine snapped in half under a bit of pressure.

Hmmm, that Logitech Elite looks interesting.

I used to have a cordless Elite Duo (keyboard/mouse combo). Was excellent untill I spilt one of those huge Taco Bell cups with water all over it :( .

First, how can folks deal with cheap keyboards. I never understood that, you buy good components then skimp on the keybaord. Anyway, I use a Microsoft Multimedia keybaord and I love it. My Logitech Di Nuvo should be in tomorrow. I'll post when I get it hooked up.

I have the logitach Itouch wireless, and the logitech elite wireless. Ahh....the joys of pulling an all nighter. I can like lay in bed and still do work. Though it helps to have a big screen. :)

Something about logitech buttons that's comfortable to me. I never really got into the "natural" keyboards either. Though, a backlit keyboard is appealing. If only they could make a wireless one with a charging station *sigh*

On a side note: Anyone figure out how long wireless keyboards go with their batteries? My itouch is on its 3rd year, and I haven't replaced them yet (duracell ultras). The elite is going on 1 and they're still good too.
..I just thought it was a little weird, since the wireless mice last less than 2 weeks.

My personal favorites:

#1 IBM Model M
Big, heavy, and noisy due to mechanical keyswitches (no rubber membranes here!). They're practically indestructable and have a really wonderful feel to them. They last longer than most cars and rumor has it they're dishwasher safe. I wish I had a prestigious 80s model but mine was made in the mid 90s.

#2 Sun USB KB in North American UNIX layout.
Typical full sized membrane KB, except it has a different key layout. I haven't actually used one on a PC (though I have used PC USB KBs on Suns & Macs so I assume it'd work)
The useful & hard to hit when typing ctrl key is swapped with the useless and accidently hit caps lock.

Well my IBM clicky clacker Keyboard has a detachable Cable, so there! :D

they keyboard does not make the box. as long as its not too clanky, clackity, or uncomfortable use it.

personally i've been wanting to get my hands on one of those indestructable keyboards that are all rubber. a friend of mine works on servers alot and he carries one with him to the closets when he needs to do some work. pretty neat to spill water and get snikers crums on it and it still works as new! clean it off with some soapy water and get back to work.

I absolutely love my logitech elite corded. It's my second logitech keyboard (had to buy the elite to match my case) and over christmas I bought the MX 500 to match both. One of the most comfortable keyboards I've ever used. Plus all the optional buttons work well and there's a lot of functionality built into it.

The Elite Cordless is the best keyboard I have ever used and in my opinion the best on the market, bar none. Looks gorgeous, matches my mx700 and ratpadz perfectly, and is comfortable as hell. Plus, it being cordless allows me to put it on one side of me (i have a l-desk) and use the Joystick in the middle. Perfect for battlefield! The hot buttons all work great, and the batteries are still showing as full and I've had mine since Christmas. Infact, I have two, one upstairs on my main rig and one that I'm typing on now downstairs. Love em both. Only complaint is that one of them got loud after a while (about 2 years).

I use a Auravision Eluminx keyboard, and LOVE it. It looks awesome, and feels perfect! I also have a Logitech (dont know the model #) and it is ok, good for the price. If you can afford the Eluminx, go for it. You will not be disappointed!

A zippy EL-lighting keyboard is a pretty good buy if you want a keyboard that does well in the dark, its really compact which is great if you have multiple rigs on one desk and space is critical. Otherwise if you have plenty of room some of the high end logitech keyboards are really nice.

I TOTALLY agree on that statement. Hell, I'm using a keyboard from an IBM XT...circa 1983...weighs in at almost 5lbs, has removable key covers, and an 8 foot cord. absolutely LOVE it! And best thing of all are NO WINDOWS KEYS!

Yes, I know well of which type of keyboard you speak.
They have broken many unsuspecting toes. The feel was fantastic though the click was loud, much like a "Leading Edge" workstation keyboard I remember.

I think the biggest advantage to the older style keyboards is the lack of Windows keys; the bane of my existence which I will go to my grave cursing.

Yup. Plug one in sometime, everything will work except the eject key.

Ummm, does the Mac keyboard still have a power button on it? That would be neat, especially if it worked on a PC... :p Then again, I haven't used a Mac for years now. ^_^;

I agree somewhat. It's a complete package sorta thing for me. Just my personal preference to have a decent keyboard with a decent box. Well, I just got my Logitech Di Novo set in today, its sweet. I have to get to some game playing on it. It feels good so far though!

Actually, since I read this thread, I wonder what it would be like to use a Mac keyboard. :p I might pick one up to replace the crappy QuietKey that came with the Dell. I can even use it for my F@H boxen... USB == teh r0xx0rz.

Wooo! This Di Novo keyboard is WONDERFULL! This thing feels great! This thing even displays the song title/time etc on the numeric keypad display! The GF wasn't too happy about the $$$ I spent on this thing. She loves it though.
