I have a system with windows 2000 just freshly installed on a 40gb formatted drive. The system is a 2800+ barton on an asus a7n8x-e with 512mb of pc2700 generic ram and an audigy 2.

Everything seemed fine but I've noticed that there is an increasingly annoying delay between when keys are pressed on the keyboard and when the system responds. The keyboard is a logitech multimedia keyboard (mouse is a mx500). This problem isn't always that big a deal, but sometimes seconds pass before a response appears on screen, while othertimes there is almost no delay.

I'm at my wits end as to what the problem could be. Typematic rates in windows are not an issue and when held down, repeats occur fine.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Sunil

edit: windows 2000 has been updated as much as possible through the windows update site and all drivers are current as of today.
