I have a Microsoft Internet Keyboard. Just a basic keyboard, with buttons along the top.

This keyboard

Can I put this in the dishwasher? My roommates friends spilled Fanta on it, and now it's going insane.

I highly doubt your keyboard will work after the drying cycle in the dishwasher. :D

Yup, no soap, no drying cycle. This was discussed to great length about a month ago here.. :)

I would take it apart though, and only put non-electrical bits in the dishwasher.
;)

What am I taking it apart to?

Like...all 104 keys pulled off? And then...the base comes apart? Or what..

its a bit harder to do, but i always just take the keyboard apart and hand wash the parts, its safer than just forgetting it in the dishwasher, and coming back to a melted keyboard, or a fubar dishwasher:eek:

pull off all the keys, and be careful of the long ones (like the space bar) thay have little tabs at the ends so that when you hit them off to the side, they dont jsut bend ()hit your space bar on the far right side, and the whole thing goes down, not just the right side. the shift key, and sometimes backspace, and enter are like this, also the num pad one are like this too. be careful, or you'll need the super glue... i know from experience:D

then turn it over, and remove the screws, then open the bad boy up, and see all your goo. YUK. its disgusting in there isnt it. go the sink and clean it. clean all the parts too, the pcb, the flexible little mat thing, the sensor pad. then scrub all the keys with a cloth or sponge or something. i think it does a better job than the dishwasher anyway, and its faster. sometimes.

you can pry the keys off genly with a blunt object (flat heat screwdriver, table knife..)
and there are screws in the back.... just make note of where everything goes so you can put it back together again.

u can pop off the keys with a flat screwdriver and put the keys in a sock, tie it and throw it into the washing machine... then take out all ur electrical components from the keyboard via removal of screws in the bottom/back of the keyboard.. then wash the non-electrical parts or the plastic parts
i did this before and it works, i also read the "keys in sock in washing machine" idea from a review sumwhere but i forgot

good luck

My Mistsumi KFK-EB9HY goes in the shower with my sometimes... It can plug right back in while still wet, and be fine. Gotta love waterproof stuff... I just towel it off and plug it righ back in.

You do realize you're dumb for plugging wet electronics into a circuit with electricity running through it right? Even if you "towel it off" it still is wet, and you could fry it.
