Keep Receiving Same Error Message

My roommate and I just setup a wireless network in our room and we've run into a slight problem. We have the router setup correctly and I was able to access the network with no problems; however, my roommate is having some problems. When he goes to enter the password, he gets a message pretaining to "40-bits or 104-bits". Now, we aren't very computer literate, so can anyone explain to me what all this means?

If more information is needed, I'll try and provide.

Any help is appreciated.
 
Could you also get the EXACT error message your roommate is receiving?
