Hey guys,

I have just encountered this problem as of late.

I would be getting Application Error stating that the memory could not be read. And asks if I would like to terminate or debug the program.

What type of error is this, does this mean my Ram is going to sh*ts? Or is it just some software conflict?

Is it in general with OS or different programs, or does it refer to one program.

Which file is entioned ? Provide more details.

The one that I get 100% is from the Sims 2

"The instruction at 0x6678e86b referenced memory at 0x011a3000. The memory could not be read"

I also get the same error just different instruction and referenced memory on WinDVD and just one from iTunes today when I was exitting the program.

Any clues?

1-I would uinstall Sims 2 and see if problem disappears.

2-I would run DXDIAG ...Are all tests passing ?

3-Douwnload and run Memtest for at least an hour.

4-Read the readme files coming with sims 2 for clues.

5-Have you got XP SP2 & Directx 9c ?

see if there is a patch for SIMS2 that could correct the problem.

Sounds like poor coding to me.

Yea, I was going to install and uninstall Sims 2, but man, 4 CDs, takes hella long to reinstall.

But I do have SP2 and 9C. It was working fine before, I am trying to remember what I did to start this problem.

I know that it was not the SP2 and 9C that cause the problem because I installed both of those before I installed Sims 2 and my girl was playing Sims 2 way after I reformat and reinstalled the OS with SP2 and 9C.

Any further clues from eventviewer ??

And, if you uninstall, remember to delete directories relating to it on C-drive, just to make sure all files are removed.

What happens if you "Underclock" ?

Same thing if I underclock. Been running the system at 3.0 ever since when, and Sims 2 was playing just perfectly for about 2 months straight.
