I just built a i7 system and I thought it was stable after minimal testing until I started getting blue screens after game installs. Specifically F.E.A.R. 2 and Rise of the Argonauts. Steam also caused me to blue screen. It also happens if I try to install Directx update.

blue screen says: error disk.sys and 0x00000050

here is my setup:
- Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower
- OS: Windows XP 64-Bit
- GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
- Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920
- SAPPHIRE 100270SR Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
- CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit
- OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply
- Two Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

I ran memtest (three instances simultaneously) overnight and after 400% - 500% it found no errors in my RAM.

Incidentally, Crysis WARHEAD installed with no problem and ran perfectly with all settings to enthusiast and antialiasing at X2. I played an hour or two before ending game myself.

Need help resolving issue(s). Will provide more info if needed. TIA.

The error message says:

disk.sys

page_fault_in_nonpage_area

Then further down the page it says:

Technical:

*** Stop: 0x00000050 (0XFFFFFADF80C34Ea, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFADF5C290, 0X0000000000000005)

I don't know if this is what you are asking for.

There's a link on how to troubleshoot BSODs in the FAQ. Use the Stop Error code and look it up. If the FAQ is overwhelming, hit Control+F, and find the word: BSOD ... which should lead you to the proper link.

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Download, burn, and run memtest overnight.

Problem solved. I finally got so frustrated with the ever so many BSODs that I formatted my hard drive, and installed XP Pro 32-bit IT. All problems resolved. Looks like it was a bad OS install. It's running like clockwork now. Would have liked to have run it in 64-bit though. At least I can use my printer again. Thanks all.

Thinking about testing out Vista 64-bit on a separate partition to see how works on my setup. Any thoughts on if it's even worth testing? Anyone do this on an i7 yet? Would appreciate any input. Thanks again.

Ungabunga is my cousin, so don't abuse him too much.^^

YES, test out vista 64-bit on another partition, it will not kill you to do so. Install it one day when watching a movie or something (on your tv) and see what happens.

enginurd: He already stated that he ran memtest... the ram is fine. The error happens in 64bit xp but not 32bit. I will have to go over and try another XP64 or vista64 install just to see what actually is the problem ><

I must've missed it, sorry. Error Codes are the same, IIRC, for both 32 and 64.

Just a follow up several months later..........

Running Windows 7 64 on a separate partition.........

Now my rig is running like a monster, and tearing through anything that I throw at it.

Now the only problems I run into are the normal ATI driver issues.....

May go with Nvidia on next card. Will see they come out with on the 300 series.
