Karajan Audio Module and DVD Feedback

I have the DFI SLI-DR and im using the onboard Realtek/Karajan audio module with the analog audio connection connected from my Liteon DVD burner to the module. The problem is that when the speakers are on i get a high pitched feedback through them that sounds like the motor of the DVD drive.

This did not happen with the same drive when i was using the SB audigy, so its not a problem with the drive. Is this normal for the karajan audio module? Is there anyway to remedy it besides disconnecting the audio cable (which does get rid of the sound, ive tried).
 
You don't need the analog cable anymore so what is the point of keeping it?

How do you get sound from DVD movies to work without it? I tried watching a movie last night and had no sound.
 
ah ha, it was but a setting in power dvd 5 that was wrong for the audio, it works great without the analog cable, and without the annoying squeal. Thanks for the help!
