K8x800 Issues!!!! Help...

If anyone can answer this I would greatly appreciate it...

This is my 2nd Albatron K8X800 Pro board in 6 days..

This first wouldnt even boot into BIOS so I sent it back to newegg, and not I just got this new one and its doing the same thing.

Here is the hardware

Athlon64 3000+
2x512mb Corsair PC3200
ATi Radeon 9700Pro
40Gb 7200 W/D
Lite-on CDRW
400Watt Seasonic P/S

All of the above hardware works great in my other baord, but its hard for me to believe that 2 of these baords arrive dead. Now I know it could happen, but maybe Im missing something here that someone else has seen. I have been thru the manual forward and backwards.

I took out one stick of mem.. Nothing, Tried the other stick, Nothing, took out all the mem... Not even a error beep.

Unplugged the Keyboard... NO ERROR

Put the mem in diff slots... NADA..

It has power, CPU fan works, Vid card Fan working, Power light on mobo is on.... unplugged everthing but the power switch cable.. NADA...

Anyone else had any issues with this Albatron board?

Check you power switch, reset switch, harddrive led, power led jumpers.

Does any of your leds stay on all the time, or flicker really rapidly?

If so, you have connected a led to your reset switch...

It happened to me on this board so maybe you too...

Its not the power switch, reset switch.. its the BOARD..

I have been in the the Albatron FORUM and they are having issues with MOBO's from the USA right now, so This 2nd board is going back and I am exchanging it for a MSI, ABIT, ASUS or EPOX...

FYI.... Stay away from any Albatron boards for now..

Well this boards do come in freighters from taiwan.... If there was a bad batch of them, then all the new ones must be bad as well...
 
How many Amps does your power supply give on the +12V rail? It seems most Athlon64 boards need AT LEAST 20 Amps to boot reliably. When I upgraded to my current setup I also picked up a PC Power & Cooling 510 Deluxe power supply. It has 34A on the +12V rail. It may be overkill, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. By the way, the Amp info should be on the sticker on your power supply.

My PS has 28v 12+ ..... Like I mentioned before, I am talking (email) with someone from Albatron to solve this .. They did say they are having issues in a lot of mainboards that are here in the US. If I get a HARD answer I will let ya know.

Again Newegg has stepped up to the plate and a new mothberboard is on its way (2 day shipping)... And this time it's NOT AN ALBATRON!!!!
 
One other thing is a possibility. Unrelated board, ASUS K8V Deluxe w/ 3000+ has an issue with the mem. Freaks out just like what you're describing with mem lowern than PC3200 DDR. Thought it might come in handy. ;)

Ive heard that too... Though i never thought of anyone using pc2700 on the board... Its rated to support it, but its just so much waste...


Anyway he already said that he was talking directly to albatron about this issues....
 
Dropped in the new board Chaintech K8T800 board and it boots on the first try....

Same Case, Power Supply, Vid card, Memory, HD, and CPU Athlon64 3000+ NO PROBS.

So Albatron is def. having some issues right now, my advice is stay away from them for the moment.

You should post a new thread in the mainboards forum saying this. Put the topic something like: K8x800 having issues, dont buy it. Or something less flamable but in the like.

I say this because i always hate when it happens that i buy something and it turned out to have flaws in the batch which i bought, and some people knew about it...
 
Well I know that this particular board is rather ground out sensitive. The fact that he didn't even get any error beeps leaves me to believe that this is the case[ground out]. I think the final solution test would be to boot with AGP card and Memory on an ESD bag. This doesn't necessarily mean bad manufacturing either, but naturally it would be preferred to have fewer potential issues when first installing.
 
I have talked to a Rep from Albatron and he stated that this is not the first that he has heard of this..... So it wasnt a grounding issue, and I did try to boot it on the ESD Bag on top of the box and still same thing... I really dont believe this was a grounding issue. I do believe that they have some issues with this particular board. So take a chance if you want to...
