K8V USB2 Problem

Hi Folx.

First, I did search the forum, and I did google it, but I had no luck.

Now, I have an Asus K8V Deluxe (s754) motherboard that is supposed to have 8 USB2 ports. It does have 8 USB ports, but I can not get a single one of them to work in USB2 mode, Every time I plug something into any of them, windows says "this device could work faster if it was plugged in to a HiSpeed port blah blah". It then proceeds to list all of the USB2 ports I have. However, no matter which port I plug it into, it only works in USB 1.1 mode.

I am using BIOS rev 1008 (rev 1009 only adds CPU support). And the USB2 controller is set to "Enabled" in the BIOS. From the documentation, it looks like every port should be USB2 when the controller is enabled.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
HMH.

Are you plugging them into the usb ports in the back or the ones in front of the case? It could be your case thats at fault, ive had that issue before with my old cheiftec dragon (antec clone). It went away when i got my P160, now my front usb ports work fine and in full 2.0 mode.

It doesn't matter which USB ports I plug them into, they always run at usb1.1.

Interestingly, Windows XP is the only operating system that I have had this problem with. Windows 2000 and even Windows XP x64 all recognize the USB2 controller and ports just fine.

I have the EXACT same prob with my Asus K8V. USB2 ports are not recognized as Hi-speed. If I install the USB2.0 drivers then the PC will show them as hi-speed ports but as soon as the PC reboots the high-speed function dissapears (full-speed or USB1) still works fine....just slow. I haven't found a fix for this yet but am still looking... the waste basket looks as if it may solve the issue though....

i started to notice this as well. I think you need to turn the USB2 controler on in the Bios. I'm currently trying to update my bios from 1001 with no luck (all of the bios files end like this: .006, not recognized)

I didnt have a option in my bios for USB controler so if anyone can help thanks.
