Hey All,

I currently have a K8N Neo 2 Plat and I am thinking about upgrading due to my AGP holding me back.

I want to get a comparable/better mobo with PCI-E that fits my 939 CPU, unless it is recommended I upgrade to a new socket that as well.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Stick with what you know so I'd personally suggest one of the following -

K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI - http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum/SLI&class=mb

or since you've already got the SoundBlaster Card maybe this instead

K8N Neo4 Platinum - http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8N_Neo4_Platinum&class=mb

Both excellent boards.

Are the Neo4's as good as the 2's?

Yes,

Theye are both great boards. Just run the latest bios and use a good PSU and ram.

One thing to note is the PCIE boards use the ATX 2.0 standard which requires a 24pin power connector along with the standerd 12v 4 pin.

You can buy an adaptor but you've got to ensure your 12v rail current is at least 18A.

Basically a good PSU of 400w+ should be fine.

You can see from my sig that I've got the SLI board with a 380W PSU and ATI V5100 GPU (X800 PRO) and it's working very nicely at my overclock.

Is it worth the extra price to get the platinum edition?

Also, I thought AMD was switching sockets. When is that going to happen? Maybe I should wait.

Yes, the M2 socket will hit the boards sometime in the second quarter/mid year 2006.

So I guess you could wait but I'm sure the 939 sockets won't be completely dropped straight away.
