Well im trying to run an app which requires a java virtual machine :confused: cause everytime i go to run it, it prints this out for me:
No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH
environment variable. You must install a VM prior to
running this program.
I went to sun java's website but i couldnt find anything, did a google search but everything usually went to a dead end.
 
If all you want to do is run Java apps, you need the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you want to program and run Java apps, you want the Java Development Kit (JDK).

In either case, go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/index.jsp. Pick Core Java to get access to the JDK and pick Desktop Java to get access to the JRE.

Once you agree to the license agreement for version 5.0, you will be able to download a tarball or RPM for your system.

If you're still on the 7.1 version of Mandrake that you mentioned in another post, you may want to upgrade first. ;)
 
Hey i upgraded im rolling alright on 10 would go 10.1 but downloading is a tedious task even on dsl :rolleyes:
 
Well, you should be all set for getting Java installed on Linux. I've installed it painlessly on the FCs 1-3 and it should work just fine on Mandrake 10/10.1.

Well took me a moment to figure that i needed to use sh to extract the rpm, but then i did that now the rpm is getting everything done up right.
