JVC DV/FIREWIRE troubleshooting help?

Maybe someone out there knows a fix for this: I have a JVC GR-D33U (i think) DV camera, running XP/sp2, my firewire card has a TI chipset. The problem is i can only xfer 6 seconds of video before my dv camera stops responding to the computer. I can unplug it, plug it in again, and it will work fine for about 6 seconds. Its really quite aggrivating. Ive searched forum after forum for a fix for this. Apparently this is a problem with JVC DV cams not adhereing to standard firewire transfer specs.

Ive tried many different proggies to capture the video, tried different sequences in plugging the camera in, yet nothing is sucsessful.

Currently im using the composite out on the camera to a video capture card on the pc to get it to capture, though this is LAME cause its all analog. id like to keep it all digital.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING JVC!

If anyone out there can help, please post!

Thanks!
