Good for what? It's not a very good gaming card but neither is your computer. What is your budget and what are you trying to do?

Good for what?

That's a good basic value computer if the price is right...however 1Gb of ram is really not enough and it will feel slow, especially with all the shit that comes preloaded on those things.

The Sims 3 comes out pretty soon and I need a graphics card. I'm asking if that is good
If that graphics card isn't, can you guys help me find one for my system?

Also I'm pretty sure the Sims has always been a pretty CPU heavy game as well. That proc might not make the grade.

Why not go for the 9800gt on sale? I don't know how well your psu is gonna hold up and you should definitely upgrade your ram.

Sure you would benifit from a nicer system, but you wont have any issues being able to play it with your 8600gt.

"Vostro 200 Mini Tower"

Thats why.

The Vostro 200 uses a standard mATX minitower. It the same as the Inspiron 530, which could be equipped with full-size 8800GT from Dell. I think you're thinking of the Vostro 200s. which is a slim case.

Get that.
Get what? He's already got a computer. He's wanting to upgrade the video.

Oh :(

Carry on.

So your system is a Vostro 200 MINI tower and NOT a Vostro 200 SLIM tower, so it looks like this: http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/desktop-vostro-220mt?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd ? If so, you have a full sized tower with a micro-ATX board, so it should fit most graphics cards. The problem is the PSU. First, it's only 300W, second, it probably doesn't have any of the connectors needed to power higher-end graphics cards (just as well anyway, since it won't have the power for them anyway). That 8600GT you linked to wasn't anything special when it came out two years ago, and it's even lower on the totem pole now. I'd say your best bet given your situation would be to grab an ATI Radeon HD 4670 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161252 . The card is low power (only requires power from the PCI-e slot itself) but offers a lot of performance. The card I specifically linked to also has a great cooling solution, so it should stay cool in that cramped case. It's the best option given your situation, and is a hell of a lot cheaper than ordering a new PC .

An upgrade to an E7300 wouldn't hurt, either. I recommend an upgrade to a 9600GT or a 9800GT too for video so you can max out the details. Anything integrated (especially Intel) doesn't really cut the mustard for anything above 800x600 and lowest settings.

dude just wants a GPU recommendation. not a system overhaul. Go with a 9800GT, or something similar. anything more than that will bottleneck in your current setup, anything less will be a waste of money

Oh I'm sorry, i ddn't know I still had this thread up, I already got help from others.
I'm going to get a ATI HD 4670, I think I will be alright

She just wants a GPU recommendation, actually... unless I'm reading in to the user name way too much.

To the original poster -- see if you can find a 9600GSO 768MB or something similar. That will do everything you want with ease for $60-70. A Radeon HD 4830 would be a good second option.

Hey would that work with my system, that's only thing I care about
Yes I do plan on getting more RAM!

Is there something that has VGA or something and that doesn't require me to add a cable to be connected or whatever
