Just added my main rig, AMD 1.7xp w / 1.25 gig ram . I have access to a bunch of servers at work that are currently unused. Could anyone estimate how much it would cost a year to run a PIII 800 box?
 
i think OSUguy has a chart w/ power consumption around.
google for peak or load power consumption and idle power consumption. subtract the two numbers and multiply by kW/hr and by uptime and that'll be your cost.

Perhaps the REAL question is how much a year does it cost to go to waste?

 
another question, how do I tell the progress of my folding? How many units and what not Ive turned in?
 
And after you've turned in some work units, you can check hardfolding.com (or any of the other stats pages in the stickied FAQ) to see your overall stats. Since everyone forgot to do this for two days, let me be the first to say - Welcome to the team!
 
Here's a link to the relevant thread on power consumption. It's far from complete, but should give some baseline numbers. You might want to also do a search on the DC subforum for just power consumption as there are a few other threads tucked about. Welcome to the team!
